Spent a week at Sherando Lake in site C07.Being from the general area, we didn't find the need to explore the area, but there are many places and things to see. Be prepared for no cell service, except for ATT I'm told, or TV reception without satellite equipment. Great place to read and unwind. My wife and I found the showers and bathrooms to be excellent and are generally very clean. The hosts in Loop C were very friendly and easy to talk with.

My husband has been to Sherando Lake many times with his trail club to assist helping with clean up and other jobs at the campground. He told me how pretty it was and shared pictures with me. I quickly made a reservation for the Meadow Loop. Without a doubt, the most beautiful and most enjoyable campground we have ever stayed at after 38 years of tent camping. The sites are large with plenty of room for multple tents or RV. They have bear proof food bins, post to hang lamp, table to set your cooking items on, a large table and a nice fire pit with grill attachments. The restrooms are amazing. Clean, warm water and showers with plenty of water pressure at no extra cost! The lake is beautiful and there are nice trails and it is a great walk just to walk to both lakes. We have already made reservations to return in October on the same loop. Highly recommend to anyone interested in enjoying the beautiful outdoors of Sherando Lake.

Love the setting! Lots of room around your campsite. Not sitting on top of your neighbor. Fire pit was wonderful. Had a few days of wonderful weather and then the sleet and snow. Was difficult to take a shower since there isnt heat in the bath house. And shower heads could be replaced. Had to move around a little to get the best stream of water.

Everyone was so quiet and respectful of each other's space. The trees provided some coverage/privacy between the different camp sites. The facilities were clean, tidy, and exactly what you'd expect. Only stayed for a night, so not sure what the check in process looked like (I arrived after the ranger left, and left before they arrived). At first I wasn't sure if I had taken a wrong turn to get here, because there wasn't much signage except for the big "GW Forrest" one at the entrance. Then there's a bit of a drive between the gate and the campsite areas. Otherwise, really great experience.

beautiful spot with beautiful views. My husband and I went for a hike up to rock point its a must do if you go there.

Good size, clean and well groomed sites. Love listening to the Whippoorwills in the evenings. Nice lake and beach area.
Be sure to lock up ALL EDIBLES AND LIQUIDS of any kind in storage containers provided when not in use or leaving site for the safety of the BEARS and the humans!

We love camping at Sherando Lake! It is one of our favorite campgrounds. We love the large camping spaces, open fields for kids to play in, family-friendly activities, quiet and beautiful surroundings, clean bathrooms and bath houses, and friendly nature of all employees and volunteers. Our favorite activities include fishing in one of the lakes, taking hikes, riding bikes/walking between loops, using our kayak on the lake, and just relaxing outdoors!
