Sherando is always a special place to visit. The beauty, relaxation, and fun are both plentiful. We never have cell service and use our trips there for a forced break from technology.

Sherando Lake is an amazing family vacation spot. Our kids stay busy all day with the lake and the sandy beach. We can watch them from the shade in the grassy area. There is also a creek area where they can catch salamanders and several hiking areas. The campsites are a great size with volunteer hosts who are always friendly and helpful. We've camped here over 10 times as our children have grown and have always had an amazing time.

Nice campground except for the rude people today plays music obnoxiously loud and walk through campsites like it's theirs

We went camping with a group of friends and it was convenient to be able to all stay on the same loop. We stayed on Loop C. Suggestions: Bring ant spray for the food storage box that is provided at the campsites. A friend suggested that and it was a must. We enjoyed our trip so much and plan to return next year. Pros: *When we arrived our power hookup was not working and the host was out to fix it within the hour. *The bath house was clean and it was spacious. My only "complaint" if you could even call it that is that there were only 2 stalls. Most of the time this didn't cause any issues, but sometimes there was a little bit of a line. *Almost every site was shaded which was really nice since it was very warm. *Large picnic tables at every site on the loop*Prep table/station available at siteCons:*The water spigots were not in operation. Only one was working. We were blessed that it was close(ish) to our site. It would be super convenient if each site had water in addition to electric.

Campground is uber-clean; camp site was very flat and raked level, even clear of leaves. No firewood on-site, but hosts contacted a guy who delivers -- $10/bundle but the bundles were HUGE. Campsite was along the creek, which in late-September was flowing nicely providing terrific ambiance and a lovely setting for riverside relaxation. Quiet crowd.

Overall, we enjoyed our visit to Sherando. We had a beautiful campsite by the creek in loop C. We enjoyed hiking the trails and seeing lots of wildflowers. The Torry Ridge trail and the White Rock Falls trails are great hikes. We encountered a stubborn timber rattlesnake on the Slacks trail, so be careful! We had two issues. First, the campground was often so full of smoke from campfires that it irritated our eyes and throat. Many campers burned wet, rotten wood that they scavenged from the woods, resulting in clouds of smelly smoke. Also, many campers burned fires from morning until after dark, keeping the campground smoky all day. My suggestions are to prohibit burning scavenged wood (good firewood is available from the campground host), and consider limiting fires to the evening, maybe 5:00-8:00 PM so that there will be some fresh air during the day.The other issue is the women's restroom in loop C. The floor was usually covered with about " or more of standing water. Apparently the floor drains in the shower area do not function well. We commented on this two years ago but the issue has not been resolved. Also, one of the upper shower nozzles puts out such a fine mist that it is impossible to adequately rinse off. The lower nozzle sprays so hard that it could be hazardous to small children who could be sprayed in the face. The nozzles are not adjustable. This issue was also commented on two years ago.

Been going for over 50 years and Sherando never fails to deliver! Weather was awesome, volunteers always do a great job of prepping sites and keeping bathrooms clean, and it's just a hotspot that holds a lot of memories. Thanks for providing more of those memories!

Much of my less than perfect experience had to do with the weather which I know the folks at the lake can't control but there is a little correlation. I arrived on the later side, about 6, and pulled into my site. It was clean and the entire campground looked very well maintained so kudos for that. No site manager came to check me in or verify who I was but I was pretty certain I was in the right spot so I was set for the evening. A short while later it began to rain pretty intensely and did not stop. Around 11 at night a flash flood warning alert came through on my phone. The site I was in was next to a stream. Im not from that area and I was a tiny bit terrified of the site flooding. Still no site manager visit. My phone had no cellular service and I didnt want to disturb any of the other campers as there were a few but not many being in the middle of the week. I was really at a loss. At about midnight, still raining, I couldn't take the uncertainty any longer and I just moved from my site next to the stream to a campground at a different location in the park away from the water. Even this decision caused a bit of anxiety as all the park material says you need to stay in your site but I figured better to move than to have my car float away. If someone knocked on my door in the middle of the night I would just explain the situation and hope they were understanding...no one did. Pulled into the higher ground spot and just had a restless nights sleep. Went back to my site at around 6:30 in the morning to get in a few more hours of rest and use the showers. Even this plan was thwarted by someone using a leaf blower nearby around 8am. Needless to say my stay was not that enjoyable and like I said it isnt entirely the parks fault but it would have been nice to have SOME type of check in, communication or human contact with anyone in that campground who had experience with the area. Cant really say I reccomend this place for the camping novice like myself.

Beautiful site and everyone was very quiet and respectful. I wish they had park rangers on duty. Their is zero cell reception after you are about 200ft into the park. Loop c and loop b had no reception at all.No wifi also.

Beautiful park! Great trails! Wonderful campsites that feel private. Super clean bath house. Staff didn't know much about the trails, which they recommend or how long they were. So, your on your own. all in all this is a great park and we will return!
