Our site was nice except the rusted out burn barrel that allowed embers to fall out. The loud partying going on all night, people shouting at each other to turn the music down, potential fights, and overall lack of anything resembling supervision will keep us from coming back. We are avid campers and I have never had such a bad experience. Will not return.

Early November, weather nice, not too cold. Some bugs in the evening but bearable. Camp host was great, bathrooms and camp clean.

Just a relaxed time when I visit. In proximity of iop, mt. p, and downtown charleston. Whether im trail walking, navigating tidal creeks or prefer visiting city lights in charleston. I thoroughly enjoy my stay at buckhall.

We have stayed here multiple times in our RV and in our tent. We love coming to Buck Hall for many reasons; the water and marsh view, watching the dolphins and hiking the trails

Bathrooms : only one campground toilet and one shower was operational. The conditions of the bathrooms were unbearable . They were not even remotely clean as bugs had died in the water surrounding the sink top and there was such erosion of the actual sink itself I thought the water would leak to the floor. No quiet hours were observed as movies from a church group were playing until 1am. No campground hosts in sight. Had reservations for two nights and barely made it through one.

This was our 4th camping trip to Buck Hall recreation area. Its a nice and quiet campground for a quiet getaway. I understand it is supposed to be up for renovations which it does need.

Tent site T3 was under water when I arrived and was a walk in site which was not stated on website. Since there was no way to set up except 'IN' water, I chose to leave.

Amazing icw views! Very clean sites. It was really nice to have hot showers. Quiet, peaceful location . Ive camped here several times and love the proximity to the national forest.

Campsite was good. Camphost very nice. 9pm woman's restroom shower locked. next morning it was still locked. So needless to say was not a great experience

Enjoyed our stay , restrooms were clean. Our tent site was fine but saw the one beside us had standing water after a hard rain. Overall its a nice, mostly quiet campground.

This is a beautiful campground along the intracoastal waterway and is proximal to many trails in the Francis Marion National Forest.
Restrooms were clean, another plus.
The only negative is that at the other end of the recreation area from the campground is a pavilion that is a popular party spot. This is the second year in a row that I've been there only to hear loud music pound into the evening all the way up to quiet hours (10pm).

Truly beautiful location overlooking the icw! Convenient access to the palmetto trail too. Ample boat parking. Sites were spread out nicely. This rec area is a gem!

Great experience, big fan of the tent camping spots being located right on the water. Felt safe and clean! Will be returning soon.

Should nor allow generations to run 24/7. Luckily it was site 1. We were in 3. The campers in 2 left because of the noise. Really ruined an other wise beautiful camping area.

The facilities were fully satisfactory. The fact that there was a campground site, such as 3, and a tent site T3, was confusing at first. The tent sites number should have been higher than the other site numbers, so only one site had the same number. The Palmetto Trail, the main reason I stayed here a night, was very pleasant and well marked. I walked its first 7 miles from the coast, then back, for a 14 mile round-trip hike.

Over all we had a great time. The sites were clean and clear and deride. Being on the water was nice, watching the boats go by. The Sunrise Saturday & Sunday morning was worth getting up with the cold. Make sure that you bring fire wood with you, it is a bit of a drive if you forget.

Tent sites along ICW are large and provide excellent views. Palmetto Trail provides hiking and biking opportunities. Nearby ferry to Cape Romain is a great day trip.

I had no idea that the following week people would be descending on this spot since it is a good boat launch for shrimping season. I also heard that people buy up whole areas for days, weeks, full months and come and go as they please, so it may be difficult to get any spot after Labor Day (which I think is wrong, it should be something that is enjoyed and not owned, if you aren't there and nobody else can visit that is not what a camp site is all about). I did see a number of snakes and fire ants, but in general, the grounds are pretty clean. The bathrooms had showers, changing area, warm water, and were quite nice all things considered. It's really beautiful looking out over the marsh and there are tons of kids running around having a good time.

My first camping experience ever. My adult son has become a great lover of the outdoors. He has come to help me during these trying times. He was missing his Colorado wilderness adventures. I suggested he volunteer to do what he loves. He love fire prevention so he has been helping out on the Palmentto Trails. We both decided it was time to spend three days around the area and see how I like camping. Wish I had not waited until until 71 to find out how super wonderful it is. Buck Hall is lovely!

There are so many options for paddling a kayak that I have been coming to buck hall for nearly ten years......a small site that I think now has been found. Sunrise is special part of waking up. And looking out across marsh has always transported me.....truly a beautiful place to camp!
