Cherry Hill is our favorite campground EVER, and we have been camping for over 50 years. We are a bit old and not so comfortable anymore with more primitive sites like Burrell's Ford, but we also do not like the crowded trailer park feel of most state parks including Oconee State Park which is just down the road from Cherry Hill. We really appreciate the ABSENCE of wifi, cell signal, electric and water at every site. The camp sites at Cherry Hill are a good size, and most importantly, there is a lot of vegetation left BETWEEN the sites. We live less than 20 miles from North Carolina entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but we always head south to camp at Cherry Hill.

Attention: the map from the website and the actual distribution of spaces, roads, and trails of the site were different. Read very carefully the map en situ next to the toilets. We had some problems: the space was not clean (some plastic pieces and broken glass fragments around, and food leftovers that turned to moldy bits). More importantly, the raised bed where to set the tent smelled very badly of urine. We ultimately didn't set up camp and simply left.

Most of the campsites are well spaced with excellent privacy. Facilities are well maintained by the on-site camp host. Bath house facilities are first rate for a public campground. Very uncrowded during the week; a relaxing and peaceful place to camp and very convenient to the upper Chattooga River.

The campground host was very helpful. On our last night my air mattress began to leak and he gave detailed and accurate directions how to get to nearest town where a replacement could be purchased. The campground is quiet and secluded and well maintained.
