We have stayed at St Lucie South several times and have always found it very well managed. It is a beautiful facility, quiet, yet convenient to Stuart and the coastal areas around it. With only 9 RV sites, it isnt easy to get into, but its worth the effort. The campground hosts are very friendly and attentive.

Easy access, quiet, scenic canal/locks views, paved level sites, very well maintained, and highly affordable. Partial hookups with a dump station. I only stopped for an overnighter but would enjoy a longer stay here in the future, though reservations are difficult to get. All the sites are listed on the website as up to 40, but we had room for our 40 motorhome AND F-150 on the pad, and I noticed that several of the sites would accommodate longer vehicles; you may need to call the office to verify which sites will work for you. The sites along the canal appeared shorter. There are docks, two large parking areas for towed vehicle parking (if needed) and for hooking up, and park benches along the waterfront for unwinding at sunset or watching sunrise with morning coffee.

Small but nice. The park ranger, Robert, at the visitor center was wonderful. Very informative and helpful. The woman at check in was also very friendly.

A wonderful campground right next to the canal. Our site (#8) had a good view. I liked this campground is small (only 9 RV sites and a few tent sites) and as it's a Corps of Engineers site, I KNEW it would be well maintained and in good repair. We used both the grill and fire ring, and the covered picnic table was appreciated when a passing rainstorm visited us. Water pressure was good, electricity was stable, and the concrete pad was perfectly level. We were there for some Spring Training baseball in west palm (30 minutes away) but were also treated to some wonderful Florida beaches nearby, as well as the features of downtown Stuart. I am already starting to make plans for returning next year!

Great hidden treasure! Very small campground, well kept up with wonderful camp hosts. Enjoyed learning about the lock while we were there. We will be back!

Nice camp site. Bath house could use a little upgrade. Overall was very nice place.

We really enjoyed watching the boats move through the locks and the visitors centre was really impressive. Id never heard about gopher tortoises before staying here. We have never been disappointed with any of the Army Corps of Engineers sites - always 10/10.

We booked this COE campground back 2 years ago, but it got closed during Covid, so this was our chance to finally rebook it and we were not disappointed! The staff was very informative with the history of the locks and, although I grew up just a few miles away, I was completely unaware of this facility. The sites were nicely done with new electric, quiet nights and covered tables. The only real disappointment was the VORACIOUS mosquitoes after dark due to the marshland behind the campground.

Check-in was fast, and easy. All workers were polite, friendly and helpful. Lots of boats traveling in and through the lock and location is close to Stuart where there are many activities.

Beautiful and laid back campground with a boat ramp but you can't leave your boat in the water. As people say, the reservation system leaves open, unused spaces so we saw one to two unused spaces...hard when we wanted an extra night.

We Love the campground! We had an issue when we drove up to check in at 12:00 the gate keeper told us that the people had not left our site yet. He said they stayed out on the boat longer. He sounded like he told them it was ok to stay past the 11:00 check out time. We drove over to the site and he had stuff everywhere. Was just starting to pack up stuff and he had a lot! Of stuff out.So we had no choice but to sit there and wait, it was very hot and was raining a little and we had a small dog The guy at the campsite told us he had a family emergency and that was why he was late but when we told him we knew he was out on a boat he knew he was busted and said oh shi_! Hopefully the gate keepers dont tell campers they can stay later. We did not get out site till 1:00

Those with smaller units can be closer to the water for viewing the boats. We could not see them as well as Ortoona. We wanted to see how this park was. It's clean, quiet, etc. But will probably not stay at this park again.
