Beautifully kept campground.Kind of hard to get into this busy little campground certain times of the year but worth it if you can make dates work. Stan and Deb are two of the hardest working camp hosts I think Ive come across. Sites are kept immaculately clean and they make everyone feel safe and comfortable. Such a fun time watching birds and large boats going through the locks. Great park across the river too.

The bathrooms nearest to the boat ramp could use a little upgrading. A fish cleaning area near the fishing pier would be wonderful. Even though........this is a GREAT campground.

Andrew, CG Host, came to my rescue when a day use fishing family , parked in my campsite. He tracked them down & had them move to day use parking. Andrew is a hero!

Enjoyed our stay, very peaceful setting for relaxing. only thing that could be better is most of the showers do not have shelves or handrails for safety. Being in my eighties this was a little concerning as I neeed to hold on to a rail when bending over. on a more positive note all the park employees were vary friendly and helpful.

We love W.P. Franklin Locks! Our camp hosts, Bob & Debbie, went above and beyond to help us get a last minute site for two nights! They were super friendly during our stay as well! It made our stay more enjoyable, knowing that they went out of their way to help us!

This place has absolutely amazing views. It is located on its own peninsula and is surrounded Caloosahatchee River. There is a pier that campers and visitors can use to fish from or just enjoy the views. This is a small campground. The sites are a little close together and open. There is some shade but not a lot. We opted to not use the restrooms. The sites have electric and water. The dump station is centrally located. We were on site 21 which was connected to another site. It would be great for campers who travel together. We didn't know the campers across from us but they were very nice. There were alligators in the river but they stayed on the opposite shore.

Location, Location, Location. Beautiful sites, close to Fort Myerss. Restaurants Host was very friendly, always making sure our stay was comfortable. We seen an alligator on our last night in the bay.

We enjoyed a 3 night stay. The park is very well kept with wonderful on site camp hosts. We will definitely return to this campground.

This was our second stay in two months. Between visits I recieved my America, the Beautiful pass. I had already made the reservation for stay number 2. When we checked in we showed it to the person working the gate and a refund of 50% was made witjin a few hours.
The camp ground is well kept. The restroom facilities are really clean.
My only suggestions would be to place more garbage cans throughout and to place hand rails in the handicapped shower stalls. As a disabled individual it was a long walk to dumpsters and I felt unstable in the shower. Other than that, we loved it and will return in the future if we can get reservations!

W P Franklin is a small USACE campground on the Caloosahatchee River. It's hard to get a reservation here during the winter but we have stayed a couple of times in the shoulder seasons of late spring and early fall. Site 21, a pull-through site, provided enough room for our long-bed truck and 33 ft 5th wheel trailer. It was a little tight on the turn to get into the site but it worked fine for us once we were in. The site is mostly shaded with a view of the water across the loop road. Many of the sites along the water are pretty short so best suited for smaller rigs. The campground is well maintained and offers recycling and garbage collection in a central site. The dump station, just inside the gate, with double-sided access which can be an obstruction to entry if someone is using it upon arrival. There are several sites for watching wildlife along the river where we were able to see alligators in the river and many types of birds. It’s entertaining to watch the huge boats passing through the lock. We highly recommend W P Franklin campground and to plan early to get a reservation!
