One of the best places to camp! Always clean bathrooms! The sites are always kept clean & good space between! Most importantly the hosts, Deb & Stan are the best! Helpful, cordial, pleasant& willing to help any way they can!

While setting up the next sight contacted camp hose because our dog was tied up and left alone (with A Picture). This was not true BUT for a minute or two as we were unloading things. and caused issues every time we were outside. BUSY BODY KAREN had nothing better to do then take pictures of what people might be doing wrong. We saw this KAREN walking her dog on a retractable lead outstretched over 10 ft in front of her. rules are rules. camp hosts have to fallow up and on every complaint. We get that but after several complaints from KAREN about many other campers you would think it was time to ask said KAREN to leave. We love this campground and stay often as possible. Always clean and very quiet. Lesson Learned IF A KAREN is around your going to have a stressful time.

Unfortunately, the secret is already out, it's nearly impossible to get campsites at this beautiful location with water views. The campground is well kept with all the amenities except sewer. So please don't' tell anyone else about campground.

First time staying here. We loved it! I just wish W.P. Franklin North put in softer lighting around the campground. It is glaringly bright and unnecessary. Same with the few campers put rope lighting all around their RV and then leave them on all night. Watch the boats go through the lock. Kayak on the river. Mountain bike at the Caloosahatchee Regional Park, 2.5 miles away.It is in a rural area which is nice, but an easy drive to Ft. Myers. About 11 minutes away is the very popular Boat House and Tiki Bar Restaurant with great food and drinks at reasonable price. It has a sandy beach area by the water to lounge at before or after you eat, as well as a pool for it's guests! Manatee Park is also nearby where you can watch the manatees in the cooler months and a kayak launch - bring your own or rent one. It's also not far from the Babcock Ranch community with outdoor concerts, eateries and an ice cream parlor. This campground is very popular and hard to get into in the snowbird season. But keep trying...it's worth it!

Beautiful campground very clean and quiet. There are lots of shorebirds, Hawks, and some gators. Most sites are on the water very few are not on the water. There is a boat launch and a few picnic areas which one is to watch sunset. It's odd to walk thru some sites to get to sunset point yet you have to to get there. Spots 9 & 10 are on the end where the sunsets behind them. We had a beautiful sunrise one morning it was amazing. Sites 2-7 face a small canal with beautiful homes across the water from you. Site 8 is handicap, sites 10 thru 17 face the dam and the lock. Sites 19, 20 and 21 are pull thrus not on the water. Sites 22 thru 26 are facing the locks/river and 27-30 are on the canal side near the boat ramp. There are some sites with hook ups for boats which is nice too. There are several parks close by that have trails you can walk. We ate at Buckingham Farms and The Cracker Shack. Everything is from local farmers and the food is good. They both are cute places. We also ate at the Boathouse Tiki thats on the river. That is nice to watch the big boats go by the food there is just Ok. The camp hosts there are so nice and helpful. Carlos is one of them Rush is the other. We drove over to ORTONA SOUTH campground we like WP better. Ortona was ok too.

We truly enjoyed our stay here. Some folks would not give it 5 stars just because there is no sewer hook up at the site, but there's a dump and a nice shower house, so we stayed 5 nights no problem. Almost every site is right on the water and it's just lovely here. We drove into the Ft Myers area to do the beach, paddle the mangroves, and see the Edison/Ford homes and museum. Highly recommend!

This was our first camp experience as RVers. We couldnt feel more fortunate to have camped at WP Franklin and with the kindness of Donna and Kathy. We stayed at site 28, with a northern view. We saw manatees, heron, a turtle and alligator. We relocated to site 4, wanting to enjoy the park another night. The volunteer hosts checked on us, made sure we understood how to hook up electric and water. Kathy even tried to help win a baseman bin got stuck with our sewer hose! We cant recommend the campsite and compliment the volunteer hosts enough. Truly made our first outing a memorable one!
