Simple, but nicely maintained campground. Had a good time watching the boats transitting through the locks.

Sections of walkways closed off. Camp hosts seemed a little bossy.

The second time we camped at Ortona on this trip and it was again excellent. David and Mary Lynne are great camp hosts and the camp was clean and in great shape as always!!! We've now camped in both the "upper" and "lower" sections and can't wait to come back next year.

Very nice campground. Well kept. Major attraction was the boats going in and out of the locks. Lots of birds and wildlife. Very secluded. Loved our stay.

This is a really beautiful site on the Caloosahatchee river. We enjoyed our location, number 32, as we could hear the river falls. It was very peaceful. We saw lots of wildlife. However, when we arrived, there was a boil water alert and we wish we had known before we arrived as we would have brought more water with us or even cancelled our reservation.

We enjoy Ortona campground as it has a nice fishing pier. We watch the otters, alligator’s and some time manatees. The campground is always well kept.

It is a clean, relaxing park with a beautiful view of the river and it was fun to watch the big boats go in and out of the locks. Met several people who were fishing and the staff was super friendly. Will definitely go back again if we have the opportunity.

This was a return trip to Ortona. The hosts are congenial and accommodating. We had a hot water problem for a couple days but as soon as it was corrected, the hosts came by to personally update. Avoid any mounds of dirt because its probably a fire ant nest! Thank goodness a groundskeeper sprayed them during my visit. This was an unusual year in that all of Florida was impacted by hurricane Ian. So it most likely affected site availability. That said, Recreation.gov should allow campers to move from one site to another without penalty. Several of us found that we were just swapping sites back-and-forth because that was only one day or two available. Its terribly difficult to pack and unpack for one day stayI found I couldnt enjoy the stay as much because I was always busy getting ready to move again.

Stayed 2 nites. Everything was kept up nicely, lots were large and lots of area to walk. Husband enjoyed fishing.
