This is a peaceful, interesting, and pretty location. We always enjoy our time here, but we prefer March over January.

Wonderful campground, friendly helpful rangers and great hosts. Lots of bird watching plus eagles. Bike paths across the Lock.

We enjoyed a peaceful weekend with a constant breeze off the river. Felt like we had the place almost to ourselves. Beautiful stars to see at night at this very well maintained and taken care of campground.

Ortona is an excellent place to spend a few days away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Wildlife and boat watching are the two primary activities unless fishing is your objective. A bald eagle is in residence across the canal along with a variety of other fowl. There are gators and manatees in the canal along with a family of otters in the creek. The park is very clean, the sites are large and paved, and LaBelle is close enough for shopping and restaurants. There are two negatives we observed. First, nearby is a construction site where the early morning beeping of vehicles in reverse can become irritating. Second, we live in modern times where internet access is a convenient utility. Ortona provides no internet. We used our Verizon hotspot, which worked just fine but we exceeded our data allowance with our two-week stay. Adding free internet would be a real plus. We would definitely return to this park. The local staff deserves an A plus.

Beautiful park at the lock. We were in site which 23, which was on the water, very private, with level gravel pad and grassy surround.

We had a great time. Loved seeing the boats going through the locks. The campsites are great. We enjoyed being right in the water

Very relaxing campsite, clean, spacious sites, right on the river with boats navigating through the lock. Will definitely return to this hidden gem.

I have been to this park several times. Its one of my favorites. It is quiet and relaxing and the campground hosts are always pleasant and welcoming.

We stayed at #21. It was at the very end and let me tell you it was amazing. Private and all of the wild life was so fun to watch. We had a big beautiful tree we set camp under with our reclining chairs and tinny foot pool to cool off. It was HOT but worth it. Host Terri was very friendly. Be carful near the water as we saw a few gators.
Watching all the boats come and go with the lock was also very entertaining.

Sites are well kept and lovely. Some are tighter than others but all have pretty good space and are easy to get into. LaBelle is close by and has restaurants and Walmart. Clewiston is also fairly close in the opposite direction but did not venture there on this trip. Not lots to do, but we came up relax and enjoy the serenity of watching the boats on water. Fishing is big if you are into that!

Loved camping here-the campsite and our location was one of the best and the nices sites we have ever encountered—and we have camped all over the US. The shaded picnic tables and the level pad was a big plus. Would love to go back and camp in our same spot again!
