Great campground, friendly hosts. Nicer larger campsites, quiet at nite. Easy check in and out. Bathrooms and showers were adequate, I did notice our bathroom wasn't cleaned every day but maybe once every 2-3 days. The shower was backing up in the ladies room, there was a pile of hair in the drain which was gross. Loved the campground we'll be back and try to get waterfront next time. We rode bikes around Lake O, and also down at a wildlife area.

We have stayed here multiple times. As always it is maintained immaculately. The sites are all cement pad with a gravel area for the fire pit and picnic table.

The road getting in off of Hwy 80 could use some maintenance, but it wasn't terrible. We were at Ortona only two days, and with no boat ramp or marina available to use our kayaks, there is not much to do. However, being able to walk across the lock was very helpfull. On one of those days we walked our road bikes across the lock and peddled the 22 mile loop to Labelle and back to camp. There is a nice city park in Labelle after you re-cross the canal at the drawbridge. And plenty of room to comfortably ride Hwy 80 to return to camp.

Nice, quiet, peaceful, great hosts. The entrance gate is closed and locked at sunset. It would be great if the gate had a keypad to get in instead of a lock that is very hard to see and use after dark.

Ortona South is a very well-kept campground. It is quiet and peaceful. Our friends camp with us and it provides us with a relaxing place to enjoy our time together. We keep coming back because it is not too far from where we live. This allows us to get away for a quick two or three-night stay more often. We really like it.

One of the nicest campgrounds weve been to. Thought we could kayak here but there was no where to put in. Fishing good. Hosts are great. Booked 6 months out and a month before we are scheduled to arrive, they canceled our last 4 days due to construction. Seriously? In the busiest time of year. Had to scramble to find something for 4 days. But we love this place. Let me say again the hosts are great.

Excellent area. It had extremely clean showers and restrooms. Great parking and barbeque spots. And easy to get to even though we arrived around midnight. We stayed in a tent in December so it was a little chilly. The spot is mostly gravel and concrete, so a little difficult to put your tent skewers in the ground.

Great place! Friendly staff, large well maintained sites, very clean bathrooms and watching boats pass is so fun.

Very well-spaced spots are appreciated these days. Loved the "hedge" of privacy between each one. Maintenance is amazingly on the spot. Customer service beyond reproach. Good amenities on location. At first, I was unsure how I would like the "rocks" around tables, but it grows on you and keeps mud/dirt from your campers and tents. Will be back
Large clean spaces with a covered table and a fire ring. We had a wonderful time and will be back.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
