Lovely camp site and the camp hosts were great! Easy access to beach and hiking. Will come again!

did not see email closing campground til I got there after driving 700 miles. My fault. Email said refund would be automatic. Had three night reservation and it opened on the third day. I did not cancel that day and because it was open I was charged.

For the second year in a row our reservation was cancelled because of bad weather but this time only half of my reservation was refunded since it reopend two days later and we had to make other arrangement when we are travelling we make reservation in advanced the only other option would have been to stay at a Wallmart until the parc reopened which was unacceptable for us so to have only half of my refund because it reopened two days later is unacceptable.

Best thing about Ft Pickens is it is a quiet campground for the less gaudy campers. Most folks did NOT have flashing obnoxious night lights on huge RVs. Because the sites are short, many smaller trailers, vans, and tent campers were in the loops, and a few big RVs. Plenty of bike riders. Shower houses are OK, but can use some updates and upgrades. Hardware does wear out over the years.

My 30 amp electric outlet was not working correctly. I notified the maintenance crew and they sent the park electrician who replaced circuit immediately.

Fort Pickens is a beautiful park. Nice feature is the dishwashing station. The Ranger at the gate was unenthusiastic and signed us up for lifetime national parks pass which saved us $$ on our stay. Would like to see more space in the showers to set your stuff on. All and all, a lovely park.

Absolutely love camping at Fort Pickens- beauty and history everywhere. I had been planning for 3 years to do a thorough exploration of the Gulf Islands National Seashore and finally made it happen. I planned a four day trip and extended an extra day to drive down the beach to Fort Morgan- took the ferry to Dauphin Island and back to Fort Pickens- amazing.
