be sure to read the information the part sends! The pads are 32' long and you have to be on the pad with both camper and tow vehicle. There is some overflow parking but you may or may not be near it. Park was peaceful with nice walks to the beach and a 10 mile 25mph drive to town. Showers were well used and steamy.. the really need a refresh. That said, we love the place and will be back.

After one day on our 5 day reservations we got kicked out because of rain and didn't get any explanations on when or if we get our money back. I canceled the rest of our time hoping to get our money back and it was denied. I contested it and it was denied again.

2 of the 4 showers were locked the 3 days we were there. We had to wait over an hour each night to shower. Otherwise our stay was pleasant.

The campsite was well maintained. Even though we were right in the middle of spring break, and every site was occupied, we had a very pleasant visit.

We had to evacuate due to a potential storm. We were notified about an hour after we set up camp. Very beautiful area but very sketchy when it comes to weather. Seems like it doesnt take much to shut the whole National Park down.

It was a good place to bike and lots of sandy beaches. Disappointed we couldnt take our dog on the beach, but expected this. Good walking trails.

New policy states that the car has to fit on the concrete slab additional to the RV, LENGTHWISE. Meaning you have pickup trucks sticking into the road every 10ft. You might think its no problem - in case RV + Vehicle length > site length, you can use the overflow parking but no. RVers were not allowed to use the completely empty overflow parking spaces. After visiting state & national parks across country I have never encountered such a ridiculous policy. It worked out for us as we luckily only have a 24ft RV but the Park Ranger made clear at the check in that they just cancel all reservations if they deem that the car is sticking into the road too far. Not sure who is making the call though since as mentioned above a vast majority of vehicles are at least partially blocking the road.At least you guys could state it in the description when you suddenly come up with a new policy that leads to cancelling 20-30 prepaid reservations per week.Been there many times in the past but not anymore.

Lots to do and see! I would've liked to see the camp store open and easier access to the water for bicycles but other than that, everything was wonderful! We will definitely be back!

Always a great experience @ Ft Pickens. I love the efforts to keep the environment pure while allowing so many people to enjoy it. I like the overall size of the sites and the quaintness of the park. This is my absolute favorite place to camp in spite of it being almost 500 miles from home.

Great place to camp or RV. Walking distance of Pensacola Bay, the Gulf of Mexico or Fort Pickens. Bathrooms were clean but old. Could use an update. Private showers which is nice. Some of the shower units had nothing to hang your cloths on so I brought a camp chair with me every time I took a shower. Only 2 laundry machines for the whole camp ground but wasnt a problem. Still worth every penny to be away from all the commercialism. You will have to drive 40 minutes to get ice and back. Not a big deal for us just informing.

The approach to the campsite is amazing- driving through Gulf Islands National Seashore should not be missed! The campsites are decently spaced. Access to the Florida Trail is adjacent to the campground. Saw a few interesting birds. Very windy when we were there. Lovely campground. Highly recommend.

Shower house in loop C in need of serious cleaning and maintenance. Applaud finally enforcing lot size limlts. Florida State parks are cheaper and facilities cleaner plus usually full hook ups.Beach and shore are the best.

Every other campsite had at least one dog traveling with them but there wasnt one beach that dogs were allowed on?!? I think this is unacceptable. Cypher lock at gate was not lit for night entry. Showers were dingy. Generally overpriced for what you got in return. Pretty area and everyone was friendly.

If you've never camped at Ft. Pickens, you're truly missing out! The campgrounds itself all have paved sites with the normal amenities of water & electric, etc. The campground loops are connected via the National Seashore historic trail system with offshoot nature trails. Ft. Pickens itself is definitely worth the self-guided tour and it plus numerous old gun batteries are scattered around within hiking/walking distance of the campground but also accessible by vehicle. You have the sugar-white pristine Gulf beaches on one side and the Pensacola Bay sound on the other, all within walking distance. The Navy base, Pensacola NAS, home to the Blue Angels is right across the bay. In the mornings, you hear reverie at 8 AM followed by the National Anthem and then see either two or four Blue Angel F-15F Eagle strike fighters fly overhead during their practice sessions. The complex (campground, trails, batteries and fort) are at the end of the island. Its a 20+ min (@25 mph) drive from it back to the the main part of Pensacola Beach. There you'll find some excellent restaurants and bars on the Gulf side like Crabs & Sidelines. On the sound side, you'll find the boardwalk with Bamboo Willy's, Felix's and a pizza place. Further down, you find Nola's (excellent lunch location) and the pricey but very good Grand Marlin. In our opinion, the best restaurant/bar on the island is Flounder's Chowder House. Try the excellent stuffed flounder. They have indoor seating, tons of outdoor seating and in season, a tiki bar on the sound-side beach. Pensacola itself downtown off Palafox St. and the historic district have numerous restaurants and bars from moderate priced like Jaco's (one of our favorites) & O'Rileys Irish Pub to pricey like Jackson's & The District and everything in between. Everyone knows Panama City and Destin. They're great but that popularity breeds overcrowding. If you want an excellent alternative, come to Pensacola & camp at Ft. Pickens campground!

great campground and the old fort is a must see. Be there when the Blue Angels are having practice. You will have to leave when bad weather is coming in.

Very nice secluded campground away from the typical beach destinations and We loved this place ! Miles hiking trails, endless places to ride bikes, very dog friendly ,lots of families with kids, and the amazing beaches, which were not very busy , since I'm guessing most of the people enjoying the beaches this far from town were staying at the campground. On two of the mornings we got to see the Blue Angles flying overhead, Lots of wildlife in the campground and on the hiking trails ! I saw quite a few of Osprey and a we had a Bald Eagle one evening sitting in a tree near our site for about 45 mins! Bring your binoculars! Its a several mile winding road at 25mph to get back and forth into Pensacola Beach for dining/ beach stuff shopping . Highly recommend Peg Leg Petes ( make sure to get a spot in line on yelp because it gets busy ). We did not mind the drive drive back and forth at all because the scenery was so beautiful ! Make sure to make some time to check out Fort Pickens . If your wanting to be camping away from crowds this is the place!
