I'm a local, love the place,we left our tent poles behind and they are holding on to them until we can get back out there and pick them up. They were in a bag on the picnic table. Thanks guys.

Great campground. D23 is a good tent site. Bathrooms are good and free showers are all right. Able to walk to the beach and also to Fort Pickens from the campground.

I have ridden my bicycle to camp here twice. Beautiful ride into and around the fort! The tent sites are shaded. At night, some people might be bothered by the occasional Navy plane on a landing approach to the base, but I found it kinda fun. Other than that, it is a very peaceful place to camp with an amazing view of the stars at night.

Check the map for shaded spots. Some catch the morning sun quite early.The showers are not in with the bathrooms. You will need to use the restroom before a shower. The water got hot but not much pressure at all. The trails are bike friendly. Just watch for wildlife in the marsh headed towards the fort. The park is always so clean.

This site is wonderful (D23). It is shady and close to the bathrooms, garbage, water, and overflow parking. The overflow parking was important to me because I have a pop up camper (Aliner) and theres not enough room to park it and my car at the site. The shade was very important because there is no electricity and it was end of June and very hot. I normally get a site with electricity, especially in the summer, so I can use the AC but there were none available. The site itself is much nicer than the ones with electricity in this area. What I did not like at all was the shower! It was horrible!! One of the worst if not the worst Ive ever seen at a campground. The walls were moldy and stained and the shower itself is one of those thats narrow like a faucet but not as strong. Some were the kind that you push the knob in then the water comes out for a short time but you have to keep pushing. The one on the end has a knob you can turn but the water never got warm. That wasnt a huge deal because I was so hot but at night it probably would have bothered me a lot. I dont remember the showers in the other part of the campground (loop B I think) being so horrible when I stayed there last year. If I had stayed longer I would have driven to that side for a shower. So short version - site is great, bathroom is fine, shower is HORRIBLE.

we had a fabulous time at Fort Pickens Campground sites D22, D23 and especially D24 (the best site in the campground)! the camp attendant was very helpful and accessible. weather could have been better, maybe a little warmer. can you do anything about that? :)

Love love love Fort Pickens Campground on Gulf Islands National Seashore! Super clean, great facilities, quick walk to the gorgeous white-sand beach or to historic Fort Pickens. This is our second time here, and we plan to make this an annual midwinter getaway. So relaxing and beautiful!

My first 5 days were on A loop, the facilities were always stocked with paper, and they had laundry facilities and a cleaning station for pots and pans with large sinks and HOT water. My next 5 days were on D loop, tent camping loop. Facilities were always dirty and without toilet paper. I was constantly telling a ranger or host the garbage cans needed to be emptied, and stalls needed paper. There were doors on the side of the building that said laundry facilities, but they were kept locked and not available. No hot water cleaning station which I thought was more needed in a tent camping site then a site with electric. I had great sites in both loops and loved my time there and plan to go back as soon as it's warm again. I spent every day at the dog beach just outside of the park with my dog!

A very pleasant place. A big plus, there are big trees and shade. Near the toilet and shower. There is no noise from passers-by to the toilet and shower. There is no smell either. The toilet is clean. The shower cabins are not new, but the water is warm, and you can always take a shower. We really enjoyed our stay.

Great place to tent camp. Proximity to white sandy beaches and Fort Pickens can't be beat. Bathrooms and shower facilities are in need of a little update, but were quite adequate. Already planning our next trip .

We always tent camp and come prepared to handle 2 dogs in our big tent and to be able to cook anything. We come from long years of scout camping so.... every time we have checked in has always top notch. Staffer was helpful, thorough and knowledgeable. Once we arrive we are prepared to sta for a night or 2 and walk to the beach every single time (we have service dogs). The sites we usually stay on are level, plenty of space between us and the next with a great metal fire ring. Truly simple but perfect for us. Thanks for you do!I work at a state park myself and am very appreciative of your confirmation email being simple yet to the point and in the email itself and not a document as I am opening it a couples times on my phone on the way to your facility.

Hello. I was camping there in the tent area from Oct. 16-20. Ive camped there twice before. I wanted to let you know someone is not doing a good job of cleaning the bathrooms and showers. The showers need painting and I would suggest the kind of paint that retards mildew. The shower heads are horrible. I found an empty beer can in a shower one morning, and it was still there 24 hours later. In the ladies room someone needs to scrub the stalls where everyone has left dirt around the edges. A good household cleaner like Comet would do it. The baseboard area and around the flush button were nasty. There were even ants crawling around in the handicapped stall one night. A LOT of ants. Im really disappointed it has become that way. I expect better in a campground located in a national park. Attached are pictures of a few things I described.

Really clean and quiet. Even though there were lots of RV's the campground was very peaceful and the atmosphere was relaxed. You don't have to worry about those "annoying RV people here", not that kind of scene.

Make sure to wear insect repellent if hiking through the park because the stagnant water causes a lot of mosquitos. The beaches are gorgeous and the history associated with the Fort is fascinating!

We loved our stay during our time when we tent camped. The grounds were kept clean and well maintained. The beach was quiet, secluded, and remarkable. We will frequent much more often.
