I love camping here and going to the beach everyday. I do think its time for a deep cleaning of the showers, they need some work!

In mid- March the weather is not warmed up much. In spite of that, the facilities were very good. Bath house was clean as was Loop A.

The park itself is beautiful and that is why we keep coming back. It is truly a magical place. The administration of the park is awful, presumably from the top down. You are more likely to have rude interactions with anyone working within the park than friendly ones. If you're lucky it'll be neutral or you can avoid interacting with them completely. There just seems to be a general attitude of hostility towards visitors, and this is glaringly obvious if you have been to other national parks/seashores, or especially the local Florida state parks where people are super friendly. For example, they'll close the bathrooms and dump station without warning or explanation and then get crabby with tent campers who wake up in the morning and ask questions when they find the bathrooms locked. The campground is nice, especially loop A, with plenty of space between sites and a mix of sun and shade. The bathrooms are ok, and the laundry room is a nice amenity. The biggest downside is you have to always be prepared to be kicked out due to weather with no place to go. It's a barrier island, some things are inevitable. But again, don't expect anyone at the park to be sympathetic that you are sitting at a nearby RV park paying $$$ a night waiting to return to your site. Their communication is so awful that they'll oops! forget to send out a notification to campers that they opened back up.

I love camping in this park. I ride my bike, run and hike along the unpaved trail that runs from the ranger station to Fort Pickens. There is a nice bike lane along the road as well. Sunrise and sunset at the beach is a great time to watch shorebirds and diving pelicans. This trip I saw dolphins both in the bay and the Gulf. In the spring there are nesting Osprey all over the island, and Ive seen endangered birds such as Piping plover and the Least tern. So much of the island is natural which I prefer to the highly developed areas on the mainland. Most campers are very quiet. Its a slow-paced place and I always leave feeling much more peaceful than when I arrived.

Love the closeness to the beach. Pls repair the several defective boardwalk boards (safety hazard) from Loop A to the beach. Replace restroom outside burnt bulbs to see at night.
Thank you.

Always enjoy our stays here. The A loop was in great shape as were the showers and bathroom in that loop. The road into the park is in great shape this year too as this was the first time we visited when the road wasnt being repaired. We lucked out with the weather as we were not evacuated this year we were evacuated twice last year. The no see ems were biting this year so be prepared with insect repellants.

We enjoyed our stay here! When you go driving down the main road, i enjoyed looking at the gorgeous wild sand dunes so secluded from all the tourist! It feels like you have access to your own secret gem or slice of paradise! When you make it to the campground, it was a surprise to see this thriving area hidden away frim what you were driving from. Plenty of beaches to play/fish, activities/acctracyion onsite and most importantly, showers to bathe after playing in the sun! We live in Missouri and we will try to make that trip more often!

Beautiful spot with smaller rigs in mind.

This is a beautiful place to hang out for a few days - pure white sands just a stones throw away from the campground, you can actually hear the waves breaking at night. The sunsets always had a good turnout from the camp! Good facilities too - I was surprised to see showers and a laundry, excellent for a National Park facility. And just a short bike ride to the Fort down the scenic route. We stayed under the trees in Loop A which would be tight for big rigs.

This is one of my familys favorite destinations. There was a lot of seaweed present this time, but that cant be helped. The bathrooms still need improvement but they are much better than before. The one huge negative is that Ive never seen the mosquitoes as bad as they were this time. I did not see anyone spending time sitting around the camp talking or enjoying the evening as was popular in the past because the mosquitoes were so bad. The museum needs some improvements and new things. The pier is much nicer than in the past. Its still a wonderful place to visit and camp. Just keep up with the bath facility improvements and find a way to combat the mosquitoes in the campground.

The staff was very friendly. Fort Pickens was a full day of exploring and extremely beautiful. Bring food and drinks with you! Great bicycle trails. RV Campground loop A is the best if you can find a spot.

Fort Pickens is a place we would love to visit on a regular basis. My only complaint is the folks you have wandering around measuring peoples campers. I was told at checkin that the site I had reserved had a restriction of 13 feet. Mine is 12.5. After moving in a setting up camp, this extremely RUDE couple came prancing into our site like they owned the place. Disrupting our dinner. Mumbling something about class A motorhomes. Mine is a Class C. I knew I was well under the limit. He walked around my rig twice determined to kick me out. He couldn't, I was under the limit. What is so wrong about having somebody asking if you were having a good time and being polite. Whatever your motivation for limiting this place to small rigs is your business. I stayed in both Loops E and A. My business is enjoying MY National Parks and following the rules. Your business SHOULD being having Camp Hosts that Appreciate OUR National Parks and what keeps them open. Patrons not RUDE Camp Hosts and NOT hiring grouchy old wanna be cops!!!!!!!

Love this beautiful area. So glad it's a national park to keep commercialization away. Plenty to do: fish, go to beach or explore the fort and museum. There are many walking trails. If you're lucky you may even get to watch the Blue Angels fly! Beware of the mosquitos. Still there in December!
