We love this campground ! We enjoy the white sand beaches just a short walk away. The drive to its wonderful as well. We stop at Joe Patties seafood for great fresh seafoods to cook on our stay. Can't get much better than a day at the beach followed by shrimp cocktails and grouper on the grill. Fort is great and only a mile or so hike. Might checkout the Blue Angels practice schedule to before you schedule your trip. Don't miss there museum.

Beautiful and quite area. The fort is interesting and the beaches are wonderful. I didn't use the beaches because the weather was to cold but the views were great.

I fell in love with this place last year and came back for a full 2 weeks this year. One thing to note is that some sites do not offer a lot of shade which can be a drag if you’re in a tent.
There were lots of birds. My favorite was the night bird Chuck Wills widow. It’s a cousin to a whippoorwill and saying all night long. Also loved the mockingbirds.
Saw my neighbors catch and release a pretty good size shark off the beach.
Watched a yellow belly slider turtle lay her eggs. Then I saw an armadillo comb and try to dig up the eggs. Every day there were lots of dolphin, swimming off the coast. Just an amazing place.

We truly enjoyed our time here. We biked to the fort on both the road and trail. The beach belonged to us, enjoying the dolphins and birds. The only downside was the our data service with Verizon. It made for slow internet. OTA channels were abundant. We will definitely return.

We loved visiting the old fort, the pristine Braves, and seeing fabulous sunsets and sunrises.

It is an absolutely stunning drive up to the campsite with the Bay on one side and the Gulf on the other. The Rangers were very welcoming and helpful. The campsite, however, not so much as it was difficult to reverse my camper, which is only 21', into the space due to the angle of the space to the narrow road being almost 90 degrees. The sites are very close to one-another, and many sites had insufficient space to park your towing vehicles with all 4 wheels off the grass, so almost all were up against the road, which only added to the difficulty of reversing into the site, and the neighbor had to move his truck. The site driveway was also very narrow, so even with my camper on the far side of the site my steps came too close to the edge and I ended up stepping into muck. It was a beautiful site, but not clean with garbage in the fire ring. It rained on Christmas Eve, so all the wood was wet and the neighbor decided to light a fire with the damp wood which blew heavy white smoke in my direction and up into my camper. It wouldn't have been so bad if this was only in the evening, but he started the fire at 7am and didn't put it out until 10pm. This was on Christmas day, so no eating or cooking outside. I never did meet any of the camp hosts, so cannot comment on them. I will probably return as it's only an hour from my house and you can hear the waves from the campsites, but I will definitely give site C12 a miss. Google street view has visuals of the campground, so I highly recommend a virtual tour of your space before you reserve so you can see your site and any issues you may have with your vehicle.

Bring you bikes and grills and enjoy the beautiful sunsets at Fort Pickens! You can walk the beach with a ranger, or go explore the Fort with your family. Fort Pickens is one of our many favorite places to camp. You can walk to the beach or ride your bike to the boardwalk to the beach. There are some walking trails or you can walk the shoreline on the bayside or the gulfside. We like to bring our kayaks and enjoy the water a little too.
