Quiet and peaceful area. Was nice walking on the beach. Just wish it had been a bit warmer!

We enjoyed walking from Loop A to the Fort. There was so much to see. The next day we took our bikes to see the rest of the Fort. Loved the beach and sunsets.

Fort Pickens is an exceptional site: close to beautiful beaches, spacious lots, wooded environment for privacy. The only problem: difficult to reserve only weeks before!

The way our reservation was canceled due to the storm was not great, but the campground and beach are amazing

We checked in on Mar 1 to check out Mar 15. On Mar 4 the campground was closed due to forecasted gale force winds. Based on past experience we expected to return on Mar 6 after the park staff was able to assess any damage. Unbeknownst to us until much later on the 5th we learned that the entire remainder of our reservation was canceled. Once our reservation, and those of all the 180 campsites were canceled, all sites showed as available. Many people had automatic availability notifications in effect and these people were able to take our site. We were able to get 4 nights in another site and had to park our vehicle in overflow. Our relations were made 6 months in advance. We reviewed rec.gov policy on closures and learned we were supposed to be given an option to return to our site after park reopened. Rec.gov representative said park admin caused all reservations to be canceled. Park representatives pointed the finger your organization and offered no help in restoring our reservation. Shame on you and park at admin for the callous indifference to those of us who traveled great distances to be there only to ruin a highly anticipated visit. We fully support the NPS and other federal venues, but this was just lazy on both the NPS and Recreation.gov.

We really enjoyed the camping at Fort Pickens. The sites are nice, the beach is great. A lot of history around the park that was interesting. A great place to watch the Blue Angeles practice too. There is also great restaurants and shopping just outside the park as well. Do wish there were better dog friendly beaches nearby. The ones we found were so small you are not going to take the dog on a walk on them. Probably 50 yards of beach is all that is available, and none inside the park.

We love visiting Fort Pickens. Staying at the campground allows us to enjoy everything Fort Pickens has to offer. The untouched natural state of the park keeps drawing us back. We enjoy riding our e-bikes, spending time at the beaches and exploring the different areas of the fort. During our most recent visit, we were lucky enough to watch the Blue Angels practice three times.

This was a first camper outing for us, so I cant compare to much other than one state park. This was better than that. Value for the dollar was excellent. Our lifetime senior park pass cut the price in half. If you are looking for nature and unspoiled seashore, this was perfect. If you need close neighbors and lots of resort amenities, not so much. There was one glitch: we were evacuated one night due to upcoming weather. We were told that one night would be refunded and we could return. Totally fair. But our complete 2-week reservation got canceled and someone else got our spot. (After thousands of miles traveled to get there) We were told this is an ongoing issue with national park management not honoring policy of each specific park. We lucked out and found the remaining last camping spot for most of the days we had planned, so it worked out ok. Overall this was a wonderful place with the nature and trails we craved. We would gladly return!

We have stayed at this campground a number of times. Always lovely to walk the beaches. The discover center is improving every year. Lots of places to bike and walk. Usually stay in Loop A which is smaller and quieter. Has a washer and dryer with is also great.

People that work here are unfriendly with lots of different kinds of rules They dont even have the common courtesy of raising a hand to say hi Bathrooms are pretty nasty But they have a gravy government job and dont really care And overpriced as well Then they said no check in before 2pm even in unoccupied spots Strictly enforced

It seems like the campground in loop A is falling apart. We had 30 sites and only 2 out of 4 showers worked for the 10 days I was the and it was 4th of July weekend and the Blues flew the following weekend. The bathroom and showers were filthy. Several campers I talked to felt the same way. If you get a tire off the pavement pulling your camper you will drag your axles some of the drop off is as much as 8 inche. Its like that in the whole loop.

Loved the location but do love full hookups like the ones available at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores.

Ft. Pickens is my favorite place to camp. The only thing that could make it super perfect is to have full hookups. It use to be we could come several times a year but looks like our favorite place has been found out. This past visit was perfect. Love the grounds the beach the staff. Love love love

This is one of our favorite places to camp. We like Area A the best. It is smaller with trees on most of the spots. Fort Pickens is a great place to ride bikes with beautiful views. It is about a 10 mile ride to restaurants, shopping etc. The walk to the beach just takes about 5 min.

Need the walkways to the beach repaired. I think this would be an excellent Eagle Scout project. Need trees planted. The signs along the trails need replacing since you can't read a majority of them. I didn't really like having to stop at the main gate all the time to show my pass since I was camping in the park. There must be a better way. All in all the park was well maintained and the facilities clean. The hosts were very friendly and would answer all your questions. The fort is always a fun place to stop. I always learn something new. The Blue Angels are a must see. The fishing pier is a great place to spend time with the family. The lighthouse and the Naval Aircraft Museum on the naval base are always a great place to spend the day.

Be aware that one loop in the campground has a height limit of 12’ due to an overhanging tree limb. It’s not apparent when booking and I lost one days payment when I found out the day of my arrival. My 5th wheel is 13’ 6” high. At least I didn’t lose my ACs!

Of all the federal campgrounds that we visit this one was definitely in the worse shape. I understand they have had previously had a storm but some of the parks we have visited also experienced the same issues. In my opinion this park is not managed properly.

Beautiful setting along the ocean. Bathroom facilities are showing their age, but clean and in good repair.

Our new favorite Florida destination - amazing historic Union fort to explore, numerous gun turrets and batteries, miles and miles of unspoiled white sand beaches. This is truly Florida's hidden gem. If you like peace, quiet, and seclusion on amazing beaches, this is the place to go.
