Always my favorite beach destination. Remote, beautiful, historical Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. No high rise hotels, condominiums. Would rate a 5 star if an on site camp store were available.

A beautiful beach area. Nice, but quiet, dated campground facilities. Need to trim some overhanging tree growth and extent pad lengths to accommodate 21st century motorhomes and RVs. Cellular service is spotty in most places.

The ranger at the incoming guard post was excellent! He helped me get my senior national park discount card which was major for me. Also he was courteous, kind and patient. The campground host was also awesome. I hope they're both there when I come back.

Site E065 Electric power post quite a distance from parking pad and unable to reach with 25' cord. Was moved to another site and just reached. Tried to find Visitor center, not very good signage or buildings identified. Located a ranger and told Visitor Center center closed.

The park is beautiful, and the Fort is enjoyable for a family. My wife and 3 year old loved the Fort and walking around through it. The beaches are amazing and the day we went the waters were a lovely clear blue green. We walked the beach picking up seashells. We stayed in Loop A which is by far the best loop. The other Loops are more mundane and lack in beauty. The only negative experience we had was that around dark at 7pm loud music with yelling and obviously partying was heard from behind our campsite. The loud music and yelling were extremely clear due to geographics of the land, and we could tell it was a large group of teenagers playing music, booming bass and drunken screaming and cursing. AT 10:15pm I couldn't take it anymore, so I had to call a park ranger. That of course wasn't easy since they don't have a direct number to them for complaints. Come to find out you have to contact the local Sheriff's Office, and they will dispatch the Park Ranger through there communications. I contacted them at 10:15pm and at 11:20pm the Ranger finally must have talked to them, the music stopped, and you could at least hear 40 car doors opening and closing with multiple cars leaving that area. On the next morning, I was told that area where all the rowdiness came from was group campsite with one building. The road to it is on the right before you get to the Loop A location. So obviously Rangers don't patrol at night and enforce rules which is unfortunate.

Camp host site was junked up. Camp host left dog out alone, parked sideways, left their site cluttered and then proceeded to drive around siting people for pulling into a site rather than backing in - the brochure only showed not to park sideways so pulling in should not have been an issue. We were warned about snakes but then the shower, bathroom, and laundry doors were left open all the time for creatures to enter. Would really make a difference to have full hook up - more spots would be filled and people would stay longer. Hosts had incorrect information about Blue Angel practice and things going on at the fort. There is a refrigerator sitting on the sound beach. The fishing pier is littered with old bait - nobody monitors the poor behavior or the fisherman. Would love to see information about the turtle hatching and maybe a ranger talk. Seems like park personnel just dont really care.

The most beautiful beach I have ever seen. We usually camp at Loop A because of it's close proximity to theramp which leads to the beach across the street. The campsites are relatively small and shady. The rangers are friendly and the park is clean. We have absolutely no complaints. We love the fact that it is dog friendly and we can walk miles of trails with our dogs. It's rather remote so pack what you need prior to arriving. No amenities other than a bath house and laundry and that is the way we like it!

The campsites are spacious and ours even had shade from a tree. The ocean is just a walk away and the bay is just a bike ride away. The fort was interesting to walk through and learn of its history. The staff were very friendly folks and very helpful.

We LOVE Fort Pickens and have been going there for 30 years with our kids and grandkids. I appreciate all the hard work to get it back open after a storm. I do believe a little tweaking on the way the roads are cleared of sand and water would help maintain it longer. Just pushing it on the side of the road is only going to wash right back over it and easier.

Campground host in loop A was really nice. The male and female. Always ready to talk when I was. They do a great job keeping the road clear of sand. A never ending job. Don’t give this campground a bad rating because of your lack of knowledge about it. I have been coming here for 18 years. Yes it is sandy, hot, humid, and they do have insects. And you can’t fit a 40 foot diesel pusher on every site. Research before you reserve and you won’t have any surprises.

We were at Ft Pickens for 10 days (March 14-24} and were in loop A. While it's impossible to beat Ft Pickens for it's location, the condition of the campground left much to be desired. We have been camping here for around 15 years and it seems that the quality of the camp keeps getting worse. The host didn't do much to make it better. We MIGHT see them come around in their golf cart every other day. They didn't clean the fire ring, didn't remove reserved tags for days, let cars park in "15 minute" parking for hours or even overnight. The condition of the showers left much to be desired. Two of the four showers weren't working and were locked the entire time we were there. We were told they were waiting on hinges and a valve. One of the two doors of the operable showers wouldn't lock (I told the ranger station about this) and my daughter and wife had people walk in on them! Unacceptable for $40/night and no sewer connection. It just seems that nobody cares about doing their job to keep the campground in good shape. As I said, after visiting here for 15 years, it just isn't the quality destination it used to be. I hope that changes in the future.

Sites in Loop A were very spacious .. A lot of class A rigs , we stayed in a class C. visited in February so didn’t have to worry about the Fl summer heat. Enjoyed the walking paths from the campground and also the biking lane which lead us to Peg Leg Petes for seafood .. a total of about 15 miles.. will definitely try to return in the future

This was our first visit to Gulf Islands National Seashore and Fort Pickens Campground and we had an absolute blast. The shoreline is beautiful with pristine sand, calming waves and truly remarkable sun rises and sun sets. We spent about 6 days at Fort Pickens in late January 2021 when they had a record breaking cold snap with highs in the 40's and lows in the 30's but still above freezing, but we are big fans of winter camping in all areas of the US and the weather did not detract from our visit at all. The Historic Fort and the remnants of the fortifications, lookouts and gun emplacements are all worth the trip and are very interesting if you have even the slightest interest in military history or historic architecture & engineering. We enjoyed riding our bikes and hiking along the variety of trails throughout the protected areas of the Park. The campground itself is divided into two separate areas with the A-loop being set alone by itself about a mile east of the larger campground with all of the remaining loops. The A-loop is a circular loop with campsites positioned around both the outside and inside of the loop. There is a dump station in Loop-A near the centrally located latrine/shower/laundry facility which boasts heat and hot water. During our stay, the facilities were all very clean and well stocked with necessary supplies, but I did note that the laundry facilities were wired and plumbed for 4 washers and 4 dryers, but only 2 of each were actually installed and those appeared to be in constant use. The western campground was set up more like a commercial RV resort with parallel RV pads and minimal privacy from neighbors. This place is definitely worth the trip and visit, but in my personal opinion the campgrounds are not the star of the visit, rather it is everything around the campgrounds that makes you stay worthwhile.

Stayed for a week! Did a lot of walking on the trails and the white sandy beach. Showers were hot in the morning not sure about the bathrooms. Stayed on loop A with a 30ft motor home. Sites were kinda close.
