We were only passing through the area on the way further east so we were only there for a night but state and federal campgrounds have a much more serene feel than corporate campgrounds and RV parks. I couldn't help noticing all the multi-million dollar homes outside of Pensacola and could only chuckle that we had the same view for $13! We'll definitely be back and will plan to spend more time when life allows!

Best family vacation! We enjoyed being so close to the beach. The Blue Angels flew over practicing their show Tues and Wed, it was so cool to see it so close. We also visited the Naval Air Museum, the kids loved seeing all of the planes and learning about them.

A very nice park, the history of Ft Pickins was amazing. To walk amoung the structures, and think of what happen at that location was mind boggling. To look at the structures and think how long they had weathered the years, was also amazing, especially when everything today is like throw away. Our campsite was very nice, and we were able to walk a few feet, cross the road, walk the boardwalk to the Gulf Beach. A few feet the other direction we could walk a trail that took as to the beach on the Pensacola Bay. We camped in loop A. Will return!

The area is beautiful, you need to explore the area, beaches trails, and the fort itself and if possible watch the blue angels practice.

Campground was very nice. Took advantage of hiking trail to the fort and boardwalk to the beach. Really enjoyed our time at both the fort & the beach.

The new equipment length restrictions have made A loop more pleasant to negotiate. However, they are keeping us out of sites that we have stayed on with no problem including parking our truck straight in front of our trailer (not sideways). The measurements and length restrictions need to be tweaked, honestly.

Uncrowded beaches just a short walk across the beach. It's our go to summer vacation spot.

Stayed in loop A. Showers are less than desirable. You literally have to hug the wall for water to rinse you. They could also be cleaner!

Great sites, beautiful beaches and clean facilities. Perfect vacation spot! Fishing, Blue Angels, ghost crabs, campfires, osprey, hikes, and the fort. Perfect!

We had a less than favorable camping stay at Ft. Pickens. The park has a bit of run down atmosphere to it. We camped in Loop A. Two of the four unisex showers were out of order and the boardwalk to the beach was in need of repair. In addition, we were given an hour to break camp and evacuate the park due to an approaching severe storm. This is not a comment about the park since they cannot control the weather. The camp staff was very nice both at the check-in office and in the park.

Our site was clean and only steps from the beach. Although a remote location we enjoyed the area very much.

Location: 5 Stars - even with bad weather, the location is beautiful. The campground is nicely situated on the island. It is important to read the notes on each campsite as they are all different and some are pretty tight. We stayed in Loop A and overall, the sites were nicely spaced. Facilities: 3 Stars - the restroom shower building was disappointing. When we got there, only 2 of 4 showers were operational By the time we left 3 of the 4 were working. There were no signs on the doors, so you just had to check every day and hope for hot water. The were cleaned, but it didn't appear to be daily. The toilets, while stainless steel did not appear to be cleaned daily. The mens bathroom had broken toilet seats and an out of order stall. Laundry room wept water from the ceiling when it was humid - the floor was wet most of the time. The ventilation didn't work. I had the opportunity to talk to one of the maintenance people and they are aware of the issues, but continue to purchase these premade hurricane shelter building even with all the known issues. Campground Hosts: 3 Stars - while nice, I'm not sure what they did other than pick up left over wood from sites that checked out and took it back to their spot. There are two of them and they are the only full hookup spots in the park, so they never really use the bathhouse. Not sure why they need two sites (four people). We've stayed at larger parks where the hosts actually do the cleaning and prepare sites and there is only one per loop.Park Rangers: 4 Stars - Overall they were very nice and accommodating, but they did actually close the rode into the campground one day and almost didn't let us back into our campsite. Apparently we were supposed to be back by 4pm and we arrived at 4:45. We weren't notified, so not sure how we were supposed to know that. It all worked out ok, but a bit frustrating.Overall, beautiful location and beaches. Campground management/facilities could be improved.

Road got flooded and park closed. However we got to stay 3 of our 5 nights and that was satisfactory.

Nice campground. Watch out for low hanging branches in Loop A ... will damage your RV.
