Camped in loop A. Best campground by far in the area maybe even the state. Will be back.

Stayed in site 37 with a 30ft trailer and truck. Paved and level but big drop off out of camper door. No shade and not privacy. Close to bathrooms. Walk to beach.

We just love Fort Pickens Campground. It is so private yet so much to do. We were able to get a last minute cancellation and stayed in the A loop which we loved. We usually stay in, C loop which is great but we found A to be so much quieter and less busy. I guess were getting old. It is so close to the beach or the sound. Easy bike ride to the Fort. We stay here every spring and fall for almost 6 years. We will be back.

We spent a week in April at Fort Pickens. Perfect weather every day! 72 degrees in the morning and coffee watching the sunrise and 76 degrees and sunny all day on the beach! Site A37 was ideal for April, but had no shade, so I would not recommend it for Summer. It was a close walk to the bath house and beach on the Gulf side. HORRIBLE wifi signal at the campsites, but strong signal near the Discovery Center if needed. The Fort itself was very interesting to tour and learn the history of. Blue Angels practice flights were Tuesday and Wednesday - they were awesome to watch! Staff was friendly and helpful. Showers were cleaned daily, but could use updating. We will definitely be back to camp there again!

I was in A037. Showers great. Nice clean campground. Neighboring campers were very respectful. No pet waste laying around so Pets had a good time although on leash. Walking trails very accessible. The only complaint is our camp spot was very unlevel for our Class B van because we had to block up rear wheels 5 and 2.5 to reach level so bring extra blocks if you do not have leveling jacks on your rig.

Great place to visit in western Florida with history, cool stuff to do and great beaches. Watch out for jellyfish. Campground offers mostly secluded sites, trees but a few get full sun all day. Mosquitoes and other biting insects can keep you inside but slather on the repellent and youll probably eat ok. Clean bathrooms and showers. Overall terrific experience.

Love this campground -- from checking in until we had to leave. I would have stayed longer!! While our site did not have much shade, we didn't really have neighbors either (we were in Loop A, #7). Showers were clean. Very close to beautiful beaches. The only thing that would make it better would be full hook-ups.

Awesome place but the facilities are a bit run down. Better wages for the dedicated employees should be a 1st priority. 2nd would be increased maintenance on existing facilities. 3rd would be modernization and expansion.

the showers in A loop ALL need to be open! only 2 were in operation during our stay.

In general I rate the park system as excellent in what it is trying to do with so little funding The park system is in dire need of increasing the maintenance of existing facilities and infrastructure and in modernization of existing and expansion of new facilities. None of the existing system can be effectively managed without people that are competitively salaried. This later point. Needs to be the 1st priority in a new vision for the parks and the park system.

Great park on nice isolated barrier island. Mostly spacious sites. Water pressure a little weak. New rules on site length limits and no diagonal parking of tow vehicle

TREE LIMBS IN ROADWAY. The ROADWAY needs to have limbs trimmed to allow ALL campers access. ROADWAY needs to be 14 feet clearance, not all campsites, just ROADWAY. All class A and fifthwheels are over 12 feet and mine is 13. The tree in front of the bathhouse in loop "A" has been trimmed which proves IT CAN BE DONE. I have witnessed many campers being destroyed because of these low limbs. What will it take to clear the ROADWAY to allow access for ALL campers? Also showers in loop "A" needs major repairs. Enjoyed our stay just needs some maintenance issues addressed.

We have been going to Ft. Pickens Florida since before Hurricane Ivan. We love it there. And especially now since I have had cancer and treatments and there you can get away from People. Especially now with covid. We love the beach and the campgound A is awesome.
@TinaC260 · Camped on Apr 30, 2021 at Campsite #A37
We had a great time during our Ft. Pickens stay. I wish the sites had at least grey water connections at the campsite. Staying for 9 days without connections is very inconvenient. We can’t even use the sinks in our campers knowing that it will fill our grey water tanks up. Also, we had an experience with a snake at our campsite. Thank goodness it was non-poisonous but we were told that even poisonous snakes are protected. I can assure you if there is a poisonous snake at our campsite or near our children, it will be eliminated.

For the price paid, the camping had nothing out of the ordinary. It was disappointed the we were informed about the park entrance fees only after we made the booking. We had much better experience with much nicer parks that costed way less.
