We had an overall very good experience staying at Fort Pickens Campground. Only complaints are that not all the showers are the same. Some had actual shower heads and some were only a small stream of water. Also there was not a trash can in the bathroom, so if you use any disposable products, you have to carry them out to the dumpster. Traffic through the campground could me monitored a little more closely, as some drivers were well exceeding the 5mph limit. Otherwise it was a great location, with a beautiful beach access, trails to the fort, batteries, and bay. The campground is a bit of a drive into town, but I like that, as it gives you more of a feeling of "getting away." We were able to get a spot beside a tree, so the shade and breeze were nice in the warmer temps. I would definitely recommend and return to Fort Pickens Campground.

We had a great time at Fort Pickens campground. Everything thing was very clean and the staff was great!

The location is BEAUTIFUL!! But the bathrooms are DISGUSTING!! Absolutely the most horrible situation imaginable short of using a hole in the floor. I was horrified to have to shower my kids in there, the facilities are so NASTY, POORLY MAINTAINED, AND GROSS!!!!!!!!!!! The walls are covered with painted over mold shining though the cheap paint, the floors are NEVER cleaned and the same sand and dirt and who knows what else off peoples bodies sits there for DAYS. Several of the showers have a push button you have to re click every 30 seconds, super fun when you have to completely shower yourself and 3 kids. And there are 2 washers and 2 dryers period, even though each bath house could have them. Where is our money going!?!? We and a few other families couldnt access the gate one night when we were coming in after the guard shack closed, and THERE WAS NO ONE TO CALL. We had to call the police and WAIT. It was so ridiculous and absolutely inexcusable. THEY DO NOT enforce quiet time hours and if you have neighbors who wont settle down, again there is NO ONE to call!! And EVERY camp host has up a big pretty sign that says OFF DUTY. They will harass you over something the person next to you is doing and roll right by them when theyre done bothering you. Its so petty. I have never had a worse experience anywhere and literally the only thing that makes it better is its proximity to the beach. Yall need to get it together you half-a** hosts are running this gem into the ground!!!!!!!! Shame on them all!!!!!!! We paid so much for this trip and had to use bathrooms worse than inmates. I am irate!!!!!!!!!

Camp grounds were poorly monitored. Rangers who patrolled at night were unable to be reached through the facility phone. camp grounds themselves are not cleaned and trash is not picked up daily. Bathrooms were not maintained throughout the day and toilet paper was not stocked. Overall unpleasant experience and will not be back to this location.
