We enjoy Ft Pickens for its quiet, the Florida Trail, the fort and history, the miles of beach to walk. Also the sightings of birds and shorebirds.

Campground is small on loop a, worked well for us as we tent camped. Short walk to beach and wow, its just lovely. Island is very cool to explore but HOT. Showers need better ventilation. Noticed the vent shafts have about a 4 inch layer of dust and it really doesnt pull moisture or humidity out, so even after taking a shower its about 100 plus degrees in there and impossible to dry off. Maintenance needs to be done there. Other than that campground is quiet at night and easy to sleep in a tent. Site A04 is a designated tent spot with only water. If your tent is low enough it will fit under a large tree at spot and provide shade. Ants are TERRIBLE, be prepared to clean up any food bits or face the wrath of ant stings!

A beautiful campground so close to the most beautiful beach in Florida you can hear the surf from your campsite!

Free to tour the fort and good information to learn about the past. It is also a good place to sit and enjoy the Blue Angels practice their flying routines. Campground shower house needs to be cleaned daily and definitely needs to be updated, shower heads are fixed where you have to put your head against the wall just to rinse the soap out of your hair, a couple of the showers are missing the benches.

We loved the campground. The washer and dryer on site made life much easier. The water and sand was beautiful! We loved exploring the Fort area. We have already booked our next trip! Definitely one of our favorite places.

I paid $80.00 for reservation at FT. Pickens, Nov18 - 22, got to the gate and was told the park was closing at 4 P,M. Asked about a refund and was told it would be a full refund. Now get this, I was offered $20.00 out of the $80.00. Called and was told I would get the $60.00 plus the the $20.00. Great then received a email saying I would get only a total of $60.00 because "I" cancelled, no it was the Park cancelled on me. So I am out of $20.00 plus 3 hours of driving and out of the gas it cost me to drive out there about 16 gallons. To say that I am pissed is putting it mildly.

A beautiful beach and island camping. We enjoyed our visit there and the beach and trail walks around the island. This was one of the nicer places we enjoyed on our travels along the Gulf of Mexico coast from south Texas to southwest Florida.

We enjoyed the beach experience and the full moon on the beach. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The sites and facilities were clean. We lost a day due to its closure but were notified in a timely manner and received our refund quickly.

The park was lovely. However, I was there to work. This office requires the people staying there to check in at the office during their business hours, even though I had paid online. I was working during those hours. I saw an employee and explained it to him and sent a note to the office with my phone number. When the man from the office called me, I explained the situation to him. He said it wasn't his problem to help me to obey their rules. If I wanted to stay there, I must find a way to check in during their business hours. I had to miss the last hour of my work, that I had traveled 5 hours to Pensacola to do, in order to appear in their office in person. The man in the office handed me a slip of paper for my vehicle and one for my campsite. It was inconvenient and outdated. Other campgrounds allow online check in and payment and simply leave a packet with any needed info for you if you can't make it to their office during their business hours. I will not be able to return to this campground since that man's inflexibility and outdated rules made me miss work.

Ft Picken's is a staycation for us, we love to come to the beach, camp and ride our bikes along the Fort, Camping or Glamping is fun, the facilities are clean, the park was quiet.

Beautiful island. Ft Pickens Loop A has trees for shade. And nice level tent spots, but was mostly camp trailers when we went. We brought another lean to that helped with the picnic area sun. You cant use trees to hang things so be prepared to figure something else out for clothes line etc. There is a pretty nice laundry area with a laundry detergent dispenser too, but no change machine so bring LOTS of quarters! There are 3 free showers in our loop but theyre in pretty rough shape- good in a pinch though. Camp was quiet but there was an obnoxious squeaky air conditioning running for the for first few days on a camper -so bring earplugs just in case. The bay side is great for snorkeling and the ocean side was just gorgeous. The sand bar went out forever making it safe and fun for our six year old to play comfortably even in the waves. We loved it here and will be back (with a huge fan- its HOT).

We alway love coming to Pickens but was vary disappointed we were evacuated with on 1 hr to pack and leave. We also got several emails abut camper/pad size. When I called the first time I got someone that didnt know what was going on and told me I should just cancel my reservation, about two week later I called and was told that it was only reservations after 2/1/22 so we came and enjoyed our selfs

It is very unfortunate the National Park Service Fort Pickens web site posted that starting in 2022 that no RV, campermotorhome or 5th wheel in excess of 32 feet will be able to camp at Fort Pickens. The 32 feet includes the tow vehicle or for motorhomes this includes your towed vehicle. So if your truck is 19 feet long your camper cannot exceed 13 feet. If your motorhome is 28 feet long your towed cannot be longer than 4 feet, this eliminates 80% of the campers. this did not seem wright to me so I stopped at the Fort Pickens RV check in office to make sure what I was seeing on their web site was correct, I was told by the lady working, that it was indeed correct, the big campers were making ruts and ruts cannot be fixed.

The campground was great. Well maintained. We stayed in loop A and I would recommend this loop as to the other mainly because there is a bit more scrub brush to separate sites and itโ€™s a smaller amount of campers. Bring you bike as most everything is accessible by bike. The sites are a little on the small side so you have to disconnect your tow vehicle and park with in the overflow parking which is close by and plenty of room. Or you can park on your site but keep 3 tires on the pavement.
