We stayed in Loop A which has a nice layout, lots of trees (no tall rigs allowed) and an adjacent nature trail. An easy walk to the gorgeous, mostly empty beach. Great beach sunsets. We also walked the beach to Langdon Battery and back. The bath house was really pretty battered, BUT they are redoing all the bath houses and were very clear about that. we went to look at one of the redone ones on another loop. If they are all redone to that level it will be very nice once completed. There was plentiful hot water in the showers. The Florida Scenic Trail links both camping areas and the fort. Easy bike ride to the fort and environs. Fort has a decent gift shop. Guided tour was very interesting and not too long. Bring what youll need for supplies with you its a long slow drive back to civilization!. But thats part of the appeal.

Spent a wonderful week at fort pickins Fla. Stayed in a loop with water and electricity tent camping with family in four sites. This place is like paradise for tent camping. Wonderful temps with cold mornings and sunny days except for one rainy day. Hosts were super friendly and helpful.

My husband has been visiting this park since he was 5. Started coming here years ago when it was a state park. He brought me here after we married 40 yrs ago. We love Ft Pickens. We usually come every summer and stay for 2weeks. It is beautiful, we always see or experience something different every time we come. The park is well maintained and the staff is helpful and kind. Like I said we LOVE Fort Pickens. Bike trails are fun, fishing onthe pier or beach, sunning at the beach, visiting the Fort, watching the Blue Angles, exploring all the history of the park. It worth the trip!

Love it. My only suggestion is there be a list of things going on in park. For instance viewing of the blue angels for practice or the snorkeling in the bay. Ect.

The location is beautiful. The bathrooms are the worst I have ever seen. The spot we were in clearly was not cleaned before we go there because cigarette butts were all over. Hosts were not very friendly.

Although I had to bounce between sites, the facilities were pretty good. The sites in loop A were really sweet, but I was surprised to see so many LARGE vehicles under those beautiful trees. I don't think they are really paying attention to the height restrictions, and as a result, limbs were being broken. Sadly, I saw folks using the "evidence" as firewood.... :0Dishwashing sinks are really a bonus when you are car or trailer camping or using tents. Water bottle refill station was also super awesome! Trash bins are enormous and not accessible by handicapped persons, in that they are vast dumpsters which require you to flip the lids from the top. The recycling one had no side entrance, but the trash one had one high up. This may be why tons of recycling were in the trash. If you were unable to reach above 5 feet, you couldn't open any entrance. They are also super gross, and I wouldn't touch them without work gloves. Ironically, they are steps away from a very tidy dump station. A few bear bins instead would have been great. Lastly, the walking/hiking trails were really well managed and lovely. The fort is an interesting historic site.

Absolutely gorgeous stretch of Emerald Coast the way nature intended it a ways away from the nearest condo tower. Beaches aren't dog friendly but you can wear the dogs out on the trails before hitting the beach. AT&T service was spotty with one bar of 4G in and out. All RV sites we saw were asphalt and pretty close to level. When setting up you want to make sure your rig is moved as far back in the site as possible to fit your tow vehicle because park staff doesn't allow parking off paved surfaces.

Gulf Islands National Seashore is what the Florida /Alabama Gulf Coast used to look like before the rampant development of condos. The campground is clean, but bathhouse need lots of maintenance. 2 of 4 showers broken, broken toilet seats, ect. Campground was quiet and staff super friendly.

We have been camping at Fort Pickens campground in Gulf Islands National Seashore for over 5 years. We will return to the park, but not the campground. The restroom facilities are unclean and not maintained. Only two showers (out of 4) that are intended to service an entire loop were functional during our entire 14 day stay and those two, were filthy. We tried showers in other camping areas, but they were equally unclean. The facilities are also not maintained. There are no fans or ventilation in the showers of any kind. Hooks, which were minimal to begin with, are broken and have not been replaced - there is no dry place to put your clothes/towel. Since this is not a full hook up campground, guests must use the public restrooms and they are unsuitable for use. In addition, all of the staff we encountered was surly. It seems as though no one at Fort Pickens is enjoying their job. While the national park is a gorgeous natural setting and the fort is a treasure, we will not stay at Fort Pickens again. Sadly, it feels as though this is exactly what park staff want: no visitors.

There needs to be a way to open sites if people don't show up. All sites were booked but 5 primo sites were never occupied.

Highly Recommended for those campers who enjoy a Gulf shoreline without high-rise eye pollution. The staff are wonderful folks. Check the local papers for The Blue Angels practice schedule. Literally miles of trails with uncharted little surprises. Wanna walk the beach? Santa Rosa Island is 40 miles long. Enjoy!

We were in Loop A #30. We loved Loop A. It was a nice sized loop. I am not sure if we would love the other loops. If you are camping with a family with kids, you would love the other loops. Loop A had some low trees but we had no problems with our TT overall height of 11'11" . The sites are paved with gravel patio area. Our site was private and bordered the woods. We could not see the beach but could hear the waves! Easy walk to the beach. Loved that there were no street lights! Just low light at the bath house, moon and stars at night. The trails are great to walk or ride bikes. Fort Pickens may be my all time favorite place for bike riding! The beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world too! We will return to Loop A for camping another time.

The road are very narrow for large rigs. Besides that the location is great as are the trails.
