Two days before check in were were notified by email the dump station for loops b-c-d-e would be closed for repairs July 24 thru august 1. Between July 24 and our checkout on august 31 we noted work was done on three days for approx 4 hours each day. A lot of people were inconvenienced due to the closure. It seems that two full 8 hour days would have been ample time to affect repairs with little to no inconvenience to campers.Focused corrective action should have been applied.

This was our third time at Fort Pickens. The go to your site check in procedure is an improvement. The condition of the bathrooms are terrible. No hooks or bars in the showers and broken and dirty floors. Staff is quick to keep vehicles off the grass which makes no sense when tents and kitchenettes are allowed. The dump station is badly in need of upgrade. Have staff spend more time on maintaining this beautiful park. Also I cancelled a reservation at Davis Bayou and the remaining four days at Fort Pickins at the same time. I got the Davis Bayou refund in my account the next day. Fort Pickins took 12 days. I had the same experience 2 years ago when the park was closed for high water on the road. Something is wrong with the Fort Pickins refund procedure.

Ft Pickens has wide expanses of unspoiled white sand beaches. The gulf side had wild surf while we were there, but the bay was calm and quiet. The campsites are fairly close together and bathhouses are very basic, but the pristine beach location is top notch. Be sure to go to the point to watch the sunset.

We loved the beaches and the feeling of being out of the hustle and bustle of beach towns yet close enough to go to town for a meal out or shopping

The beaches were beautiful and well maintained. However, the campground itself should get a 2 star rating. The hosts were constantly driving around, two to a cart, looking for any parking violations. I don't mean serious violations. My back tire was on the asphalt, but since it was three inches above the grass, you could place your fingers under the tire. So technically, it was not on the grass. Secondly, if they spent time mowing, instead of riding tandem, maybe they could cut it. It was 6 inches high and there were cockleburs that filled my Yorkie's fur. One day I cut 15 out of his fur. The bathrooms were filthy. Too much Meter Maid, too little maintenance.

This was our third year visiting Fort Pickens Campground and, unfortunately, our last. New size restrictions for RVs have "sized us out" of ever being able to visit this campground again. This is our favorite place to visit while my wife, who teaches, is on Spring Break. We will miss coming here even though I have always been able to maneuver my RV into my spot without causing site damage. What a shame that we can't visit again unless we downsize. Please reconsider the extremely strict and unreasonable RV size restrictions.

This is such a nice park and campground. We enjoyed it so much last year that we came back. Great bike riding, beach time and history.

Campground is nice and very neat to visit. Bathrooms need to be cleaned, they had a moldy smell. There is also a 12ft height restriction that is gonna be enforced, completely stupid. Just pay attention to your surroundings and you will be fine with the height. My fifthwheel is 13.4ft height and had no problems.

This is the friendliest park I have ever camped at, everyone there was amazing. We took our two granddaughters and they had the time of their lives! Very family friendly and lots to look at and discover. The water and beaches were clean and nice to swim in, also no crowds. Bonus we got to see The Blue Angels doing their daily practice. I can't recommend this park enough, it was just a wonderful experience.

Fort Pickens is great! Access to Gulf beaches and trails to take kids in. The history aspect is interesting (maybe not for young kids) and watching the Blue Angels is worth the price of admission!

We had an interesting experience exploring Fort Pickens. The history covered from 1834 on. Slave labor for construction, Union occupation during the Confederate War, value of location during WWI AND WWII. Be sure to get a brochure with its numbered points of interest.

We were wanting to camp in a non-electric site. We were told that we couldn’t because we had a trailer (13ft) so we had to change to a electric site. Our trailer is self contained. As it was the electrical hookup was too far away for our plug to reach. We checked out the non-electric site. Our trailer would have fit and we could have parked our car in the over flow parking. The showers were nice.

One can enjoy either the Sound or the Gulf. We had a nice time riding our bikes. Mosquitoes are bad at night so be sure to bring repellent. We also, enjoyed watching the Blue Angels practice.

We camped in a 39 foot 5th wheel and no problems with getting into a site that we picked. Hookups were all good. Did not use any of the facilities but did use the sewer dump, which worked well. Walked on the walking path at the park and it was fun getting out into the wilderness of the park and learning about the local flora. We would camp here again.
