My husband and I have been camping at Fort Pickens for the last 5 years. We usual come down from WI in late January and spend about 10 days to two weeks. The only thing it I think needs improving is the showers. The shower head is to close to the wall. In order to get under the shower head you have to practically hug the wall.

It sure would be helpful if there was a huge sign on the office door that read: "NO NEED TO REGISTER HERE - GO STRAIGHT TO YOUR SITE." Also, how about bring back the store at the entrance of C-loop.

Site was on outer loop of campground. Plenty of room, level, quiet. The sites are close together and the campground was full but never felt crowded. Clean restrooms and grounds. Thoroughly enjoyed exploring the old fort and walking along the beach.

We had a great time with family. We have been camping at Fort Pickens since the 1970s. It is full of history, has some of the worlds most beautiful beaches, and it harbors memories that have been part of our family for many years now. The rangers and volunteer staff have are and always have been great. I would like to see some changes made especially to make it easier for larger campers to continue to come and camp here. Our 35 foot motorhome and our daughter and son in laws 38 foot fifth wheel will not be allowed to camp after this year due to site restrictions on camper size. With a few simple modifications, the larger campers could be easily accommodated, like lengthening the driveway pad by about ten feet or flaring the street connection of the drive sufficient to allow a tow vehicle to park parallel to the street without getting off the pavement. I understand and support protecting the environment, but trimming a few tree limbs to provide a universal 14 foot clearance, which is street and road standard, would also open up more campsites to taller campers. Tropical storms and hurricanes do much more damage than trimming a few limbs. I hope everyone will continue to be able to enjoy Fort Pickens in the future.

Great scenic coastal park. Miles of pristine mostly isolated beaches. Facilities well maintained.

Beautiful beach, so many birds to watch, quiet campers. We especially enjoy bicycling the trail at different times of the day to see different wildlife/views.

Every person associated with Fort Pickens and the campground are focused a on making the experience at their National Park the most enjoyable it can possibly be. Our family greatly appreciates these dedicated professionals. With the new length and height restrictions, we are heartbroken that we will likely not be allowed in the campground again until much needed pad and roadway improvements are made. This just illustrates the importance of maintaining our National Parks. They are a treasure. Our family will continue to support our National Parks with the hope that campgrounds like Fort Pickens will continue to provide families the experience that our national parks were created for. Thank you Fort Pickens! We hope to see you again sooner rather than later.

All RVs over 12 feet tall are banned from the campground. We are very upset that we cannot camp at Ft. Pickens anymore. We have a 5th wheel and friends of ours have a Class A. Both are 12 feet 8 inches in height. We have camped at Ft. Pickens since we were children with our parents and now love bringing our grandchildren. The campground is beautiful and well maintained except for a few limbs over the campground road that could be trimmed back for easier access. The sites are paved with picnic table and fire ring. The newly renovated bath houses are very nice.
The campground was all torn up with tire tracks due to rigs that had to pull onto the grass to get into their spaces. Many spaces are very small. The ground was wet all week even though it only rained a little. The mosquitoes were unbearably bad. The showers were nice enough. The beach was two thirds of a mile away, which is a long way to carry beach stuff even though we had a wagon. Would not stay here again.

The beach is the main attraction here so the campground itself is just a place to eat and sleep. It's nothing fancy. The C, D, E loop area was a little smaller and tighter than I had imagined but it was fine for our 31 ft. motorhome. Hookups are 15 ft. toward the rear, so be prepared. Loop A has more trees and is overall a prettier area but the overhanging trees on the main loop road make it impassable for anything over 12 feet high. The beach on the gulf side was beautiful and the bay-side beach was surprisingly nice as well. Climb to the top of Battery Worth for a good view.

What a great place to camp. Great showers & laundry area. CLEAN Great sites. Not a bad one in the campground. Quite. Got to watch the Blue Angels practice air maneuvers. Thrilling to watch. Beaches were great. We had some very bad rains & access roads became flooded. Personnel were all helpful & very courteous. Thanks!!
The campground is in the middle of the island in a protected tree lined meadow. The beaches are a quick walk on two sides. If you walk the length of the island, you can walk through more meadowland or marshes. The diversity was pleasantly unexpected. I thought I would be camping on a beach.
Absolutely beautiful, peaceful, Fort and ongoing renovations amazing, Staff super friendly and helpful (I have a brain injury, so it takes some patients to help me :). We didn't even mind no on site sewer! We will be back as much as allowed.
The rangers and camp hosts were great, personable and helpful. We had the misfortune of having truck problems that delayed us a couple of days. Everyone went the distance to accommodate us. Much appreciated!

The people working there were great. The showers and bathrooms were clean and well cared for, and the campground was well maintained. Add to that the wonderful view and the fantastic beaches and what's not to like about it. Five Stars!!

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
