If you did not or will not pay for the America the Beautiful pass then I recommend not camping here or planning around paying $35 each time you re-enter the park that houses your campground. Be prepared to have no introduction to the park or campground and to have your legal name displayed for all to see. Ranger was rude when I brought up my reservation and berated me for not knowing I needed to show my pass first. I was not trying to use my reservation as a pass, I simply had no idea and the Ranger was incredibly condescending and rude and offered 0 insight on how I even access my campsite. After getting through the Ranger on a power trip, I just blindly start searching for my campsite because there is no check-in station or ranger to check you in. Luckily, the previous guests had left and I found my last name broadcasted to park guests and rangers alike. Unnecessary invasion of privacy. The facilities are extremely outdated. There is a prison toilet in one of the facilities. Bring shower slippers. The beach is the saving grace. Options for Gulf or Sound. I went in late March and the water was still too chilly to swim but overall it was really nice. Oh, do not expect wheelchair access to the beach as the beach directly in front of the campsite has a boardwalk but its warped from heat and looks like no plans to fix. The major red flag for me was at the campsite there are 0 water level flags. You dont know the water conditions and the service is spotty so you cant look it up. You would have to complete an 8 mile drive at 25 mph to find the flag. Additionally, couldnt enjoy the Fort Pickens tour because it was all online and again, no service. I would consider going back if the park upgraded their facilities and also figure out a smart, efficient system of allowing campers in. We already pay taxes for these parks. Charging $35 every time you leave and enter is highway robbery. Shame on you NPS.

This was a great location, and our campsite was very adequate. The bathrooms could use some maintenance/care, especially the showers, but they were sufficient. The camp hosts were friendly and reminded us of the rules when necessary. As a reminder, camp fees don't cover park costs, which were an extra $25 for the week-long pass

This time we had a storm and flash flood warning. Sadly, the park is closed because of the severe bad weather. I think the park is very responsible for the security of customers!!!

Camp grounds were very nice and well kept. My only issue was the state of the restrooms... Toilets were completely backed up and overflowing all three days we were there.

We had a great time! The girl on the golf cart rolled by on her nightly site check and was soo very helpful since we didn’t get to the campsite until later in the evening. It’s August in Florida, so hot, but worth it!

Our campsite had a pile of sand right in the mid section of our site. Which smelled like all the dogs n cats used it as a bathroom. We ended up having to put our tent in a spot that was in the way of 3 other sites. Also on the webiste it says some spots you can have 2 vehicles. Thats not the case. Every campsite is one car only. The showers are pretty gross and moldy. But bathrooms were kept up good. We stayed 5 nights as a family of 8. We would like to come back now that we know how everything is. With all the money that comes through for the fees etc you would think upkeep would be a little better. Trails to the bay need to be made a little better as well. Fort Pickens was beautiful and we did enjoy it juat wanted to be honest. Thanks!
