I loved the quiet undeveloped beaches. The campground was within a 2 min walk. Loved it

I was surprised that the on site duty staff was UN-friendly, almost rude but would answer questions. Didn't really seem to have the time for the guest. This was before the evacuation due to storm. On two occasions on duty staff was rude in telling us and a visiting guest, "no off pavement parking" if just to let others by", seemed odd but I accepted the pressure of the evacuation and storm conditions. On one occasion my son's dog barked momentously due to a passing dog and was reprimanded by park officer driving by as if the dog barked all night. Their dog is super well behaved. Dogs are an issue but this was not necessary in front of the children. The parked seemed to need some extra cleaning in bathrooms and some maintenance. Not bad. Hot water worked and not trash blowing around. Great dumpers and laundry. Our overall experience was OK. My son and daughter in law has said, " this is their favorite park" and have been there many times. They drove from Dallas to spend the new year with us....we drove down from TN. It's great for little kidsI also appreciated the flexibility of changing our arrival dates due to illness with a refund. We will come back sense it is beautiful, and great beaches.I don't like to be negative but this was necessary for the parks future.*if a guest wants to spend time at the beach then be sure to rent in loop A. It's close. **Also be sure to take time to read the history of the park and all attractions. *** The pavement is great for riding bikes if your older.****Enjoy the shore line when driving in and out. Sand and water is gorgeous...like no other place.

For my little camper, this site was perfect! Shade, access to restroom and short walk to the beach.

Not safe for pedestrians, bicycling or kids. The speed limit is 25 but there is no enforcement of it except by fellow campers. Saw an older man in a huge Escalade run 3 kids on scooters off the road as well as most people speeding by bicycles well over 40mph on the park road. We did see one single ranger but only at night to clear out the fort. Camp hosts were amazing!

We have visited this campground several times. I love this place. It is one of the few parks in western Florida where you can pretty much always find a spot. The Florida State Parks often must be reserved a year in advance. The history is interesting and the beaches are lovely.

The beach is gorgeous! It's remote from the town in 9 miles of solitude. This was a top pick in the 5 weeks we've been on the road exploring the USA

Loop A is a nice place. Packed in but still nice. The bath house could use some maintenance - shower valves were corroded. One shower wouldn't put out any hot water so we drove to one of the bath houses in the other loops. Good birdwatching and easy hiking on well maintained trails. Great Beach! Wish it had be warmer so we could swim. We'll be Scamping on back some day.
The campgrounds are densely populated, but the surrounding environment is the Parks greatest strength. Miles of sugar sand beach on the Gulf (didn’t use as dogs not allowed) and miles of beach on on Pensacola Bay offer uncrowded conditions for all activities. Ft Pickens is a haunting, sprawling, historical colonial structure where one can spend a day exploring. The camp host was personable and helpful. The grounds are well maintained.

I love Fort Pickens and have been camping there since I was a little kid and I am now taking my grandkids camping there. This was my first time camping in Loop A and it was really nice. Hurricanes have taken out a lot of the trees in the main camping area, but Loop A is still very shady and the sites are more private than the main camping area. If you have little kids and you want to be able to walk to the quiet water side (sound side), then the main camping area might be a better option, but the kids loved Loop A too.
When you mow please don't throw rocks and debris on my Sprinter van. Also on my neighbors new truck and camper. Put a guard on mower or grass catcher to prevent this.
Our family loves Fort Pickens. We try to go every year. This year we had to leave after being there only 2 days because of TS Fred. We miss the gulf waters and the fishing. We’ll try again next year.

Our experience at the RV campground was all we hoped it would be. The RV space had plenty of live oak shade trees around the pad/table, and electric and water hookups worked fine. The RV spot was an easy walk to the clean Gulf beach. Other facilities were in good working order. Visitors should take advantage of driving trails that have explanatory boards to describe the fort and base remnants that exist. The fort dates from 1816 and actually was in use in WWII. In all, the RV sites, the beach, and the historical structures make for an interesting and pleasant stay. Park Staff were very helpful, patiently guiding us through the check-in and RV site procedures. Thanks for a great one-night stay.

We have enjoyed our vacation at Fort Pickens campground! We biked, hiked and relaxed at the beach! Coming back in August again!
Even with intermittent rain the experience was great. Site was flat and comfortably separate from neighbors.

We were shocked to go from commercial surroundings to shear beauty within a mile. This piece of property is breathtaking. The pure white sand and its meeting with the land and sea will make a believer out of anyone. Take advantage of the camping areas, trails and historical artifacts. We hiked and biked over the entire peninsula using the Florida trail as a main artery. We branched off in all directions to visit beaches, birds, swamps and batteries. We visited in January which seemed to keep the crowds and bugs down (entire beach to ourselves). Must see the sunset from one of the fort batteries with ships leaving the bay side harbor.
We really enjoyed our visit. We toured the Fort and the batterys and hiked. We walked the seashore too.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
