Had a great time. I feel the park rangers a too harsh on vehicle tires touching grass. My truck tires were on gravel not the grass. And they made me move my truck. A bit harsh.

The grass around our fire needed to be mowed. We asked for assistance but no help. Light in one of the showers was not working. The bathrooms and showers were not maintained.

Access to the gulf and sound were great and the trails enjoyable. Fort Pickens is great to explore as well and you can do that at your own pace throughout your stay. The trash however is really sad to see. I realize it probably washes up from the gulf, but I picked up 8 or more Walmart bags 'stuffed' full in the two days I was there ..... PLUS carried more than a dozen huge items not in a bag. The sound side was also human trash, cans and menstrual material dumps. I think it would be wise to follow Blackwater River State Park example and have a trash pick up station and encourage others to pick up what they see. The only place I could throw the trash I gathered was in a big dumpster at the park. A child or short person could not even reach that lid. Maybe a secure trash can at the trailhead of each beach walk or something ..... Destin and other beaches don't have a smidgeon of this much trash. Or ... maybe find a volunteer that would walk the beach outlet areas each morning to pick up at least the huge things that wash up would be really appreciated. Just a thought. Blackwater River State Park keeps their trails and river beach fronts pristine somehow and the difference was very noticeable.

The campground was great and the host friendly. The beach was an easy access from loop A. The sites with trees were the nicest. The beach was beautiful but sadly the weather was not great on our trip. Enjoyed the fort and eating at Flounders!

Have been to Ft. Pickens many times and would definitely return there again. However, this time the grass needed to be mowed when we arrived and 2 weeks later when we left it still had not been mowed. The restrooms are normally verry clean however this trip that was not the case. On a positive note, the hosts were verry friendly and helpful, the fort, beach, and Blue Angels were amazing as always.

The beach is beautiful. The amenities are good. There is even a laundry room. The sites are short and rather close together so be careful what site you choose.

Camping at Fort Pickens never disappoints. Sites are large and well maintained, location is excellent and staff from check-in to camp hosts are excellent

Ft Pickens is one of my favorites. Could have used a little bathroom attention this time though.

The bathhouses are the worst part of this campground. Haven’t been updated in probably 20-30 years. No soup dispensers by sinks.

We love coming to Ft. Pickens and have been doing so since 2015. We like to stay in A loop because it's a much closer walk to the beach. The only issue is that there are several trees with limbs that swoop over the drive around the loop and these limbs can damage your rig if you have a tall 5th wheel like us. There are warnings about this on A loop on this site so please heed the warnings. We lost our antenna last week because of the limbs. They will not cut them because the land is protected due to it being a National Park so if you have a larger rig, you may want to stay in the other loops. The other loops are still nice just a little longer walk to the beach but you can drive your vehicle around to park closer. There is a lot less sand in them than in A loop which makes for a less sandy rig on the inside. We have been all times of the year and have found that May is best for catching fish. Summertime (June-Sept) are sooo unbelievably hot that we decided to go in December this year. We enjoyed 75 degree weather the whole time with mostly sunny skies. The seafood options in Pensacola Beach are the BEST in the panhandle. Peg Leg's is a personal favorite and so are Flounders and Crabs. I don't know if the Navy base is open to the public again yet, but when it was, we used to love going to the Naval Museum on base, lots of amazing history and it's free (donations are appreciated). There are several other museums downtown and we visited them all. You can also walk around the historic district and take in some history and tour some historic homes which are also free. On Ft. Pickens, I recommend touring the old fort, it's completely open to the public. During warmer months, you can also get a free air show by the Blue Angels since they practice weekly right over the island. Had a wonderful experience right after Christmas 2021, we were on the beach and they flew Fat Albert low along the beach line TWICE! And it felt like it was just for us. Love Ft. Pickens!

I stayed one night, it was my first FL stop. I loved it so much because of the beach and the Fort. I booked it for my way home 2 months later so I can spend more time. You drive along a road and sand surrounds you on both sides. It was beautiful. I told many folks on my way about it. The 2nd time there on the way back, a storm was coming. SO again i didn't get to go swimming, was super disappointed because I booked 2 nights. But that's not the locations fault. I did indulge in a shower that night before the storm hit. The showers were terrible. The worst on my entire FL trip. They were so close to the wall, and kinda dirty. That was a big minus for me. A storm came in later that night and it was a hell of a storm. The next day I had to move to the other camp ground Loop C from A. Those loops were mostly flooded. So don't go if there are storms. I went to the office and asked if anyone canceled in A and got lucky. Thanks goodness because it wasn't over. SO the service was great in that area. Beautiful place and a must stop. Just don't expect a good shower, ewwww.

Brought our 3-year-old grandson. He (and my wife and I) had a great time. He got to see an armadillo, climb a few trees, and generally do outdoor stuff.
