We are going there for several years now.
Great access to the most beautiful stretch of the beach.
You can watch the Blue Angels there practicing.
But our recent experience was really bad which was related to the evacuation on August 15th due to the approaching tropical depression Fred.
I fully understand and support that we were asked on Aug 14th to evacuate on Aug 15th, as nobody could foresee the extent of any possible impact from tropical depression Fred to the campsite. So far so good.
But I need to say that the aftermath of this entire evacuation action was totally out of scale.
It became clear on Aug 16th that there was absolutely NO impact to Ft. Pickens campground or surrounding beaches. Nevertheless you left the park closed. Why?
The day after Apr 16th surrounding beaches were open, close by campsites didn’t even close at all etc. And you kept us from completing our trip that we had booked.
In my opinion and also from other campers I talked to “absolutely not tolerable”.
We have to book months in advance to get a spot there and we were excited to be there and then you just decide to keep the campsite closed? I don’t get it.
We were first forced to go to Isaac Creek in Alabama from Aug 15th to 17th as this was the closest park outside of any storm corridor and since you left the park closed we were forced to go to Avalon Landing RV and they told us there was no impact from Fred to Pensacola Beach.
So please explain why you left the park closed?
