we stayed at campsite 6 on the upper side for big 5th wheels. its our favorite place cause we can back in and we have a patio that flips out into the trees. we all remarked about how quiet it was the whole time. we shared our homemade hand cranked ice cream with our neighbors who had kids to help crank. we just wish the back in places were a tad bigger since we came with another couple and they had a smaller camper as well. it was tight fitting us both in there.
we kayaked across the lake and had lunch one day at the lodge where we discovered BIRDMAN BREAD and had to make a stop in Missoula for a loaf to bring home.

We have been coming to this campground for 15+ years. It is very sad to see the way the area has become so over crowded and the stress on the campground environment. I would not recommend this campground for anyone who wishes to enjoy the beauty of the lake for non motorized sports, or anyone who wishes to relax in a quieter environment. The camp sites have become very overcrowded with occupants often putting two huge RV's and three or 4 vehicles on site and then setting up tents in the spaces between sites. The lake is loud with jet skis, and ski boats...even tho it is a very shallow tiny lake. It goes without saying that it is noisy during the day and there is a lot of traffic that goes through the campground loops daily. The campground is showing a lot of wear and tear and will soon be pretty barren of native grasses and shrubs if the over use is not contained. The hosts in the past several years have created roads where there used to be just foot paths for their vehicles they use to move between campsites to do their jobs. Their jobs have increased tremendously with the increase in occupancy which necessitates more time spent on vehicles on the 'roads' between campsites. We have observed in the past couple of years that the lake is warmer which has brought the turtles out to the middle of the lake and the pond lilies and other water plants are beginning to take over. My recommendation would be to rest this campground for a couple of years and when it reopens make some updated rules about occupancy to reduce the number of people who are allowed on one campsite per day/time...and for sure no more than two vehicles per site. And not allow tents on non designated tent sites. The lake should be designated as non motorized watercraft only.
