I love Gerle creek and have been visiting for many years. I dont like some of the recent changes, especially the payment restrictions. I dont want to be dependent on a cell phone and cell phone coverage to check into a site. I appreciated the placards on reservable sites so that when trying to choose a site I would know what is available. I am planning one more trip this year and dont know how it will go because I cant make a reservation and dont have cell coverage there, that is a big part of why I go there, It is one of the few places left where I havent needed it until now.

Nice set up for your tents, shade and proximity to the restrooms is really good. We really liked that it had some shade and some sun. Your tent is far enough away from the road that it is a lot of privacy.

Gorgeous family campground -- hosts are great at keeping the sites clean and the noise down during quiet hours.

Quiet - no motors allowed on lake! I really enjoy the interpretive trail and love swimming in the 'cold' water!

We arrived on Monday May 30th and stayed for 3 nights in site 008. Our site was large enough for our 25' Winnebago View but our site had a major slope requiring our front wheels to be lifted off the ground to be somewhat near level. Our location was less than 5 minutes from the river, lake, and beach area. Gerle Creek Campground and lake is a beautiful and because we had very few people at the campground, we felt like we had the lake all to ourselves. I took my dogs in my inflatable and ventured to the island in the middle of the lake. The drive up the hill from highway 50 is very winding and long. We consider this campground to be in our top 10 and try to go once a year.

Be sure to walk the trail around the lake - and up to the river falls if not too low. Bring yellow jacket hangers - they love to be with you when cooking but not too bad.

Beautiful lake, clean water, large campsites, well maintained vault toilets, friendly camp hosts.

Been going to Gerle Creek for years. Enjoy to few minutes to chat with the wonderful camp hosts every time we camp. They keep everything very clean. It’s a smaller campground which is nice and the lake is perfect for kayaking.

If you want to swim in cold refreshing water - this is the place. Very limited camp sites on the water but you can walk easily from your site. You can drive car to parking lot but it does get full quickly because it is open to non-campers for the day. That makes it challenging to enjoy the water on popular days. Has a wonderful small easy walk around the west side with informative plaques explaining the history of place. You can also walk around the north east side easy - different experience but you can get away from the crowd at the water if you wish.

Nice campground. Great for small families and close access to the lake. Definitely adding to our list of sites.
