Suttle Lake is one of our favorite, easy places to camp. The campgrounds are very large, with lots of space and the hosts do a great job of keeping things clean. Like, the bathrooms are spotless!! We love the lake and the ability to walk to the lodge if we want to have a drink or meal. It's only an hour from home but feels like the epitome of a summer vacation when we're there!

I have been coming here for years, and always love Suttle Lake, but this was the first year that we were shut out of our usual spaces...we are hearing that people are programming bots to secure spaces...very sad, especially because our usual space went unused the whole week!!! I wish something could be done to free up spaces that aren't claimed in the first 24 hours.
I would like to especially compliment the 2 people who cared for cleaning the bathrooms each day. They did a great job and were very pleasant and prompt with their cleaning. (It was a man and woman team). Lastly, I was sad to see so many trees gone...I know that they were removed because they were diseased, but shade is really down in some of the spaces. Is there any intention to replant?

When we arrived the water system was shut down due to a broken pipe. The camp host told us an email had been sent out about it (which was true). One of the pit toilets was closed (why would you close a pit toilet?) and the garbage was overflowing. The camp host apparently got in his camper and drove away from the job, so there was no camp host for a couple days. Then a substitute came around and updated the reservation cards. I tried to camp in one spot for four days but was unable to given the reservation system. As it turned out, no one came on the day we moved across the road for a day, so it was for nothing. The current reservation system isn't working: reserved camp sites get left unused and meanwhile there are no first-come camp sites anymore. Probably the Forest Service just wants the cash flow, and meanwhile provides pretty poor service. Of course they are underfunded and understaffed: what does that tell us about our society as a whole? We can't even get our act together on camping.
