Paulina Lake is one of two twin crater lakes in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument between Bend and La Pine. It's at a level of 6,331 feet above sea level.
Paulina Lake is a highly used recreation site and boaters have to either go through the campground or nearby to access the water. I had read many reviews that said people were woken early in the morning from pickups towing boats through the campground.
Thankfully, that wasn't an issue for us. Our campground loop was used more by people leaving the lake and that didn't happen until later in the afternoon. And the rigs going by weren't excessively loud.
The campground was clean and well cared for. We were a little nervous because they delayed the opening for two weeks so crews could remove trees blown over during the winter. They got the work done on schedule and the campground opened the day before we arrived.
Vault toilets were situated throughout the campground and there were drinking water spigots for filling up jugs.
We had a great stay and would consider coming here again.
