Great campsites along the eastern short of Paulina Lake. Restrooms were clean and spaced conveniently through the campground. Water and dishwater disposal traps were also convenient. Nice access to the Lake, Obsidian and Little Crater trails

This campground has to be the most scenic one we have ever stayed at. This was our first time to stay in a Recreation.gov campground and also our first time to boon dock. We had hiked through the campground when we visited Newberry National Volcanic Monument in 2021 and we wrote down some of the nicest sites. Site 28 is right on the lake and the views were fantastic--especially the sunsets. WE also enjoyed watching the chipmunks who reside on Paulina Lake's shoreline. Our only problem was that this site is not level at all and we spent about 45 minutes moving our trailer to find an area on which we could level our trailer. We had to park our trailer adjacent to the road and our entry door opened right out to the pavement, so we were more than fifty feet from where we put up our gazebo tent where we spent a lot of time. We probably would not pick this particular site again, but we would definitely go back to try one of the other sites we thought would be more level. The LIttle Crater Rim hiking trail starts at the far end of the campground and it is a great hike with spectacular views. The trail does need some maintenance in the steeper climbing sections where steps have washed or eroded out of place. We also drove to the top of Paulina Peak to hike the along the rim for more great views. We had hiked around Pauline Lake the previous year. Staying at Little Crater Rim turned out to be the highlight of our 2022 camping experiences. Great camping sites, great views, and a great time!

Second time staying in this campsite never disappoints. I want to give a shout out to the camp host and ranger team. My son lost his cell phone on the beach, it was found, turned in to the hosts and we were contacted. Wonderful end to the story!
