This camp spot is better than it looks, particularly if you are tent camping. There is space for a trailer as long is 20' or less, I'd guess. Not a fault of the campground, but I've never seen as many yellowjackets in my life as we experienced. A peppermint spray will at least keep them at bay. We were there the week before Labor day, and the spot across the road, though never occupied, was reserved for the same days we were there. That spot was the one we really wanted. Its too bad people don't cancel their reservations if they aren't using them.

Hosmer Lake is one of the primo kayaking or canoeing lakes in Oregon. Great birds, beautiful scenery, narrow and open waterways. It can accommodate a lot of people without it seeming too crowded. We saw an eagle catch a trout. The water is extremely clear and not very deep. Remember to bring in your own water since there is now water at the campgrounds.

I didn't have a bad time here but I probably wouldn't return.
Pros: campground was pretty well-kept, big sites, bathrooms were stocked with TP for our whole stay, minimal mosquitos here.
Cons: no potable water on-site (but not cheaper than other campgrounds?), no real beach on the lake, charged for any additional cars, main bathroom by the boat launch was nearly full.
If you are self-contained in an RV and are going to kayak or paddle board, this is probably a great option. If you are tent camping and are there to swim and play in the water without watercraft, not so much. There are other places nearby that I think are much better but I would come here if I was set on camping and no other options were available.

We had a great time. Lake was amazing and it served well for our day hike up the south sister. The mosquitos were not great but there were worse at the trail head. Had an awesome time!

very dusty and not very level camp sites. People driving to fast creating even more dust
