Beautiful lake with some cool rocks!! Nice large campsites with plenty of space for a tent, vehicle, picnic table and hammock. The sites next the lake are ideal.

The lake shore is lower in the last 3 years So the boat ramps need to be extended so the boats can be put in the lake.

Very nice location. One issue was algae in the lake. They also had septic issues which left ports potties as main bathrooms.

Great spot, wish we'd been able to get more nights but were glad we found an available site for one night. This campground is much smaller than the others around East Lake and Paulina so less busy and pretty quiet other than a little road noise. Next time we'd definitely plan ahead and hope to be able to get one of the sites right on the water!

Wheels on cooler and kayaks are helpful; it's a trek to get to to the beach.
Bug spray is a must.
Don't complain about NO CELL service : it's what makes the area heaven!

East Lake is one of the more remote campgrounds in Newberry Volcanic Monument, but is 5-10 min drive to attractions like the Big Obsidian Flow (which was amazing in itself). The campground has decent tree coverage for shade, but you can see most other campsites. The loop is small, but nice to walk around. The lake is beautiful, especially with the white pumice stone shore. We did not venture into or onto the lake due to it being chilly in September, but we enjoyed soaking up the sun and the view while reading by the shore. No complaints about the campsite. All seemed reasonably sized for trailers and tents. Ground is flat enough. Men's/Women's single stall bathrooms with flush toilet and sink, but that's about it. We still felt like we were "roughing it."
