We absolutely loved staying at Furnace Creek. We were there in mid-April and the weather was beautiful but hot during the day. The campground was completely full but it didn't feel crowded. Definitely recommend the walk-to sites. We booked this site (142) in conjunction with our friends who booked (141), and it was awesome. The two sites were on either side of a small stand of trees -- 142 is on the east side, so gets some afternoon shade. If your tent is a 4 person or smaller, you could be able to tuck it into the tree stand to provide more privacy, shade, and protection from wind. And it was definitely windy at night!
Campground hosts were pleasant and the facilities were all very clean. A warm and welcoming atmosphere overall between other campers and staff. Would absolutely stay again!

Fill up a gas can before coming if planning to do a lot of driving in the park. Gas is expensive!

Perhaps we didn’t read enough reviews and missed the part about high winds at night, but I wouldn’t recommend camping here unless you have a good backup plan. We had to move to sleep in our car around 12:30am due to 40 mph winds. We ended up staying somewhere else outside of the park the next night since the winds were supposed to be high again. You can check at the visitor center and they have a board that shows the wind forecast.

The whole of Death Valley (that we saw in four days) was just delightful and much more beautiful than I had anticipated. The absence of trees/vegetation on the mountains really allows one to see the rugged beauty of the geology there.

We were tent camping - we were prepared for likely wind but the blowing sand was awful - impossible to cook. All in all, a good trip/visit, tho.
