Campground with beautiful views conveniently located in the heart of the park. Solid amenities. Short walk to visitor center, and next to a gas station and general store.Going in December is great for hiking, but dress warm. Also, be prepared for rain. It rained for 2/3 of our trip. I recommend badwater basin, mesquite sand dunes, artist's drive, devil's golf course, golden canyon, zabriski, and Dante's view. Most of all, go see the pupfish at the salt creek - how often do you get to see fish in a desert?

There are some really beautiful camping spots in this campground but it's hard to tell which ones benefit from the afternoon shade. Pick carefully! In general, the sites with trees on the southern and western areas of the campground seem to have better shade. The visitor center is excellent and worth spending time in to get oriented with all the possible explorations in the park.

Site #59 was excellent, though there really isn't enough space for two vehicles. This is our fourth year camping at Furnace Creek, and ever year has been better than the last. The camp docents are very helpful, the people are nice, and the facilities are very good. The proximity to the Visitor's Center, the availability of potable water at the campground and the proximity to many of the best attractions of the park make this a must winter camping experience. We regularly visit Zabriski Point, Golden Canyon, Natural Bridge, Artist's Pallet, Devil's Racetrack, Badwater Basin, and our favorite, Dante's View. If you drive back to Stovepipe Wells (gas is much cheaper), the Mesquite Sand Dunes are fun, the gift shop at the gas station is great and our favorite restaurant is there--the Whitney Toll House. Just up the road is the road to Wildrose Charcoal Kiln/Telescope Peak (closed Dec 2023); well worth the trip up, amazing view of the High Sierra across the 'street' (395). So, what are the cons? Cell service is a little iffy, it's very remote, and can get very cold overnight in the winter (20 degrees a few years ago) and there is a lot of driving to and from places, even the close attractions. If you go with family--and some members don't like it--it could be miserable. Sometimes they sell out of firewood, especially when it is very cold. All in all, another excellent experience with the entire family. Look forward to returning in 2024.

This is dang near the lowest elevation spot you can camp in North America. What's not to like about it. Plus you're not too far from Mesquite Sand Dunes for sunset or sunrise

Our spot was good. That there are showers and a pool you can buy ($14) at Furnace Ranch was great. The only down side was a noisy generator that was running almost all day. Generator hour should be limited. 12 hours is too long.

The campground is very good. The only problem is that is no shade, I understand is a desert, but Death Valley is beautiful

If I was more aware of the critical nature of the paved camping area, I would have chosen a longer paved trailer pad so I can fit my truck on it as well.

Furnace creek campground was a nice spot. Our first night we had some issues with the ladies room near our site being closed. The dump station being closed was inconvenient but the alternative station just up the road worked out fine. It was quiet and just amazing views. Just go at the right time of year or it will get hot.

Our visit to Death Valley as a whole was very enjoyable. Unfortunately, the site that we picked (059, Drive-in Loop, standard non electric) does not have available parking for the tow vehicle. Your site detail is listed as OK for a trailer up to 31 feet. Seemed reasonable when we made our reservation. Our trailer is 23' so should be no problem. I parked my truck adjacent to the trailer out of the roadway and received a notice from the ranger that I couldn't park there because I was not on pavement. I had to find alternative parking on pavement for the TV. Perhaps you should limit site 59 to motorhomes without vehicles or at least note in the site description that tow vehicle parking must be off site.

We reserved site that claimed tit was large enough for our trailer - it probably was. However we could not use the site because there was insufficient room on the road in order to Turn to back into the site. Ended up paying for another site at Stovepipe Wells which we enjoyed.

Great spot as a central location to do all the hikes that originate nearby.

Camp site was good, sinks for washing dishes are nice, restrooms could use a trashcan and more frequent cleaning.

You need to sell firewood on the winter. Its cold. We brought in enough for the first night but needed to buy more for the second night and couldnt find any at either general store or the ranger station. The ranger we spoke with was very unhelpful and rude and said you can drive to Nevada. He then prjceedwd to lecture me on how firewood sales are a private business and has nothing to do with the park service. I told him I was staying in a National park campsite so it seemed like it was. Government issue to an extent, and that if they knew there was no wood for sale, they should at least give a warning to people with campsites to bring enough for themselves. It is very cold in this park in the winter and people rely on purchasing wood to enjoy themselves and to stay warm. At a minimum, you need to provide better information or this issue and I would encourage you to sell your own firewood to alleviate the shortages and the price gouging by the general store.

Very clean campground and the employee at check-in was very friendly and easy to work with. The one drawback is that the 7:00 cut-off for generators is really early.

The camp site is absolutely awesome. It has all the amenities like flushing toilet, running water, fire pits and general store. It's very easy to get in and out. It's a wonderful park. I enjoyed all the hikes and great view.
