Most of Furnace Creek campground is wide open with little privacy between campsites. However, site 88 was a good site. One side is the campground road and there are no sites across the road. There is a tree line that wraps around two sides increasing the sense of privacy. Only one side was open and the parking pad for the site was such that our van blocked site lines that direction. We had excellent views of the night sky and could hear parts of the dark sky presentation given by the interpretive rangers. The views of the mountains to the east were good as well. It was a short walk to the bathroom and the sinks for washing dishes or filling water bottles. I'd definitely choose this site again in the future.

As far as Death Valley rea, its pretty good. We had campsite 88 which was one of the best ones as far as privacy. Others are so close together! Bathrooms were fine. Close walk to Visitor Center was nice. Hosts were fantastic and kind! Pretty average campground overall.

Pros: The location is central and very convenient to Death Valley attractions, which is why we chose it. Compared to most campgrounds, the fee is extremely reasonable, especially if you are a senior with a Golden Age pass. We were within walking distance of a general store, gift shops, and showers. It had what we needed - proximity to the park and trails. We enjoyed the views of the mountains and watched a full moon rise over the ridge.

Cons: Not the best for tent camping. We arrived in the middle of a dust storm. There is very little vegetation to shelter from the wind, and the surface is hard gravel with few level spots. Sites are close together, and several areas are basically parking lots for RV's, so it's worth a look at satellite maps before choosing a site. Seemed like there was always a generator running,, even at 2 a.m. Campers pulled in and set up at all hours. Many campers ignored the dark sky rules and used bright outdoor lights. Showers at the neighboring resort cost $14 (but included use of the pool).

Well maintained and managed campground. Personnel happy and helpful. Wish there were showers, but otherwise a great experience.

Close to The Ranch resort for general store, bar, restaurant etc.

Check out the 19th hole bar and get for grato burgers, conversation and views. All easy walking distance to campground. ..... I'll be back

We stayed here for one night and it was clean, beautiful and serene.

Campground was a great homebase for exploring the park as it was centrally located. Restrooms were clean and hand sanitizer was provided. Many sink stations around for cleaning dishes. Site #88 had no neighbors across which provided a great view, but is close to the Visitor Center so you get lights and a slight humming noise from there at night.
