However, the adjoining restaurants get zero stars. The "Buffet," using the term lightly, had a very small selection of very old and soggy foods. I will eat just about anything however I could not finish my meal at the buffet. The food was bad, bad, bad then, while trying to eat lunch, the cleaning crew was mopping the floor around us. It was 12:30 p.m., which should have been the busiest part of the lunch hour, and my friend and I were the only people in there. It's no wonder. The next day we went to the Ice Cream pallor and ordered a hamburger. The burger was okay, just okay, but the price outrageous. It was about 5:30 pm. The sign on the door said clearly they closed at 8:00 pm. After finishing our burgers we tried to order ice cream desserts. It was 6:00 pm. We were told we couldn't order ice cream as the young man behind the counter had decided to close at 6:00pm rather than 8:00pm. What???
The camp ground was full the whole time there. Yet the restaurants were empty. The conversation in the camp ground was about the the lack of service and the the quality of the food. We were warned by other campers to not go there.
All those new casitas, as beautiful and they are, are going to be empty if they don't get their food act together. The "word of mouth" conversations are spreading among the park visitors about the disaster taking place in Death Valley.
The service in the General store was superb, the inventory plentiful. The same with the bike shop.
We have been going to Furnace Creek 3 to 4 times a year for 20 years. I can tell you from my own experience, you've got some real problems there with food service that are going to hurt all the vendors in the park if they are not quickly resolved.
