Twin Knobs is a great campground. Lots of shady, private campsites and clean, private bathhouses. This comment may be more about recreation.gov policies, but we were not able to book our preferred campsite (B-01) because it was listed as FF (first come-first serve). So we reserved another site we like (C-08) thinking that we would just switch when we arrived if B-01 was available. But when we arrived they would not allow us to switch. They said it is too confusing and the system can't handle changes in campsites. I don't understand the purpose of FF campsites. Why not allow all sites to be reserved on-line or allow someone to switch when they arrive at the campground?

Great location for summer get-away. Boating and fishing were great fun! Campsites are well spaced for lots of privacy. About half the sites have electricity and the rest are primitive. Each loop has several water access points but no campsite water (except for hosts). Two dump stations near campground entrance. A sand & dirt "beach" is available on the lake along with 4 boat launch ramps. Poison ivy is prolific so stay on middle of the trails!

Campground is well maintained. Sites are wooded and very nice. Boat ramp is easy to launch from.

I stayed for one night on 4 Aug 21 in site C0008. The staff member at the campground entry station was very friendly and welcoming. I found the campsite itself to be a level concrete parking pad surrounded by heavy tree cover and sufficient understory to provide privacy between campsites. C0008 offered 30 and 50 amp electric service which was in excellent working order. The campground staff had taken the time to rake the sand / gravel area around the concrete parking pad, giving the impression that the campground was being well cared for. The flush toilet facility in the C loop appeared clean and well stocked during my 1-night stay and the nearby dumpster had recently been emptied. Since this was just a 1-night stop over after a 12-hour drive, I did not get out to see much of the other sights or facilities at this campground, but I will definitely make a point of stopping by sometime in the future when I have more time to explore. ATT cell coverage was strong here offering 77 Mbps down and 5.8 Mbps up while Verizon offered 44.1 Mbps down and 3.83 Mbps up. Thank you to the US Forest Service for making the campsites at this wonderful location available for reservation on RECREATION.gov.

My husband and I had a very relaxing stay. On the rainy days we went into Morehead and shopped around. The one place I recommend eating at is Pop's! It was sooooo good and we will for sure be eating there again!

We enjoyed camping at Twin Knobs for an overnight stop, and would like to come back and stay longer. The campsite had plenty of room and was well separated from neighbors. Roads are nicely paved. I enjoyed the trail that spirals up one of the Twin Knobs, for a nice evening walk.
