Great hosts and lovely spot. Our site was a little tight to get into with a 24 trailer.

This campground appears to be a convenient Yellowstone access facility rather than a destination site. It was handy for visiting the wolf/bear sanctuary in West. (Recommended!) We were not interested in entering the Park because it is a zoo (of humans) in the summer.
There are camp hosts on every loop. They were very friendly and helpful. Kudos for keeping the sites clean.
Unfortunately, an outhouse smell wafted to our campsite. The pit toilets were very clean but heavily used and ummm… malodorous.
The sites are reasonably large but at full occupancy, felt a little claustrophobic, especially given the flat terrain and high density of trees.
The busy grounds were understandably a little noisy but settled by 11pm. Little kids with an elk whistle made an alarm unnecessary at 7am. ??
There appears to be good boating access on Hebgen but the warm summer had encouraged unhealthy algae growth. Swimming was not possible in early August.
Were we to visit the area again, we would find a destination public campground.

Very limited and obscured signage to the park and campground. Difficult to find. Once we did, however, it was Dirt, dirt and more dirt. The beautiful pine trees looked like they were flocked, but it was dirt. The picnic tables were covered in at least an inch of dirt (like volcanic ash). We could not open our windows or sit outside because of the thick dirt and dust everywhere. Filling the fresh water tank was a challenge because the faucet would not accept a hose. A fellow camper fortunately had an attachment they loaned us because they had been in a similar situation ten years prior. There were, for a lack of a better word, “tombstones” lining the road and each campsite, making it nearly impossible to back into the campsite without doing damage to the camper or the truck. What should have been a simple maneuver required inching back and forward and jackknifing the rig. Parking the truck in the site after disconnecting was tricky as well because of the tombstones. Would a load of gravel be such an expense for the campground? Fortunately, we were there to see Yellowstone NP and spent our days away from the campground. We do not recommend this campground.

Unfortunately the lake was closed due to algae contamination.
The gravel road into the campground the last 1.5 miles was in poor condition so had to drive very slowly.
Hopefully they will fix it.
