Small campground with great access to hikes and lakes with a short drive. Lots of shade !

Campsite C8 is very close to the garbage cans (metal) which are used all hours of the day and are very loud. This campsite is also very close to the very old toilets which is definitely in proximity of the smell. So even when you are cooking food or just hanging around the campfire, you're smelling the toilets. There were also some RV campers that thought it would be cool to set up loud generators right next to our camp and run them all morning. The camp host didn't seem to think that this was a problem so I had to approach my neighbors on my own.
Further, the said camp host this year was very noticeable; cleaning toilets and garbage can service, what seemed like several times a day, while driving a pick up truck all around camp. As early as 7 am and not trying to be quiet. I was awoken every morning by any and all of these activities.
I have been coming up to this area and staying either at Campfire or at Cabin Creek for over 40 years. This area is magical and adjacent to some pretty gorgeous country. I think that if I stay here again, I will try to get a spot in a more discreet area.
The camp hosts will usually talk your ear off about the surrounding grizzly bear country and your need to be protected. If you're not an experienced camper in this area, then this is a good conversation to have. However, I have hiked in these woods for years and have never seen any type of bear. So I don't know that I would be paranoid in these woods, but rather smart and aware. I have heard that airhorns are a great deterrent for bears; better than a can of bear spray or a gun of sorts. Something to check out for yourself.
