I stayed here on my way to the Wind River Range. It is a lovely campground - the tent sites along the river are particularly nice & mostly spread out. There's a trailhead at one end of the campground - looks like it'd be an interesting & pretty hike. The only reason I didn't give this campground a 5 star rating is because of the trucks & their jake brakes. ALL. NIGHT. LONG. But it is most definitely not the FS's fault - the canyon is rather narrow & there simply isn't more room so anywhere you camp along this road you're going to have truck noise. The campground host was friendly (although it was the first time I've ever seen a host going around picking up firewood that other campers have left for the next camper. I found that a tad disappointing in that I always try to leave some as a "pay it forward" sort of thing because there have been times when I had none & greatly appreciated finding some. The electric side was full and a couple sites had a LOT of people. One had over 25 people which seemed a bit excessive but what do I know. Nice dumpsters on the way out (I'm being serious, not sarcastic - many FS campgrounds don't have them). The river was lovely & lots of shady spots to sit & enjoy. I was there the 3rd week of June & no bugs. I was just driving thru Yellowstone & arrived at West Yellowstone at 6:45 am (on a weekday) and there were already close to 100 vehicles waiting to get in! Line moved pretty quickly though.
