I had site 3. The site itself is fine, but all the sites in this area (1-5), except maybe 4 lack any real privacy. Site 4s access is a little path between 2 and 3, so it feels like somebody is walking through Site 3 anytime to/fro Site 4. The campground is not car accessible per se. You must carry your stuff in a short distance on a gravel dirt path from the parking lot. For the furthest sites, maybe 300 yards. The campground is located about 1/3 mile from the park entrance off of the main road. Most of the sites are within eyesight of the parking lot for the campground.The toilets (pit) are too few in my opinion. 1 stall for each for men and women and no water for washing afterwards. More toilets are at the Visitors Center that flush and have water, but they are about 1/4 mile hike or drive away. There is also no water (potable) at the campground. I knew this, just wanted others to be aware.I have camped out hundreds of nights and this campground, in my opinion, is not up to the US National Park standards. Its okay for a night, but it really wasnt a good park experience for Congaree as it was on the edge of it and not really immersed in the true park settings. The whole campground surrounds an open field on three sides with the 4th the parking lot and road. You are barely into the woods. I cant really see staying here more than 1 night.

Great campsite for a two night stay! Plenty of wood to gather for a fire, and the site had very flat ground. The camp sites behind you have a separate walking path, so they never got too close and it felt private. I think the negative reviews are related to the whole campsite as I cant see anything wrong with site 5.

Parking area it is far from some campsites.Restrooms partially clean.Lack of direction when you arrive at the site.

Honestly, the campground sites are packed together tightly. The site I was in had no high spots and I woke up in a three-inch deep puddle. A great deal of the park was closed due to flooding. But, I have good gear and had a great evening hike on what wasn't submerged on the boardwalk. I bought a new hiking stick that was cheaper than the one I had passed up, but was still thinking about, on Skyline Drive. I loved it and will return someday because I forgot to get my Passport stamped.

Loved camping at Longleaf, Congaree during October. No bugs! The sites were tidy and I was able to find plenty of firewood onsite. Kayaked and had a lovely visit overall.

It started to rain the night we were there so we only stayed the one night. Up until then it was great, any of the individual campsites after site 2 don't have a concrete slab in case of flooding. All in all it was a nice campsite, the walk isn't far from the parking lot. Definitely will camp here again but only in the first two sites in case of rain.
