Love this campsite(bluff 2)!2 picnic tables & a grate for the fire. Plenty of space for tents & hammocks. The family bathroom was open at the visitor center too. Can be nice to take dinner trash etc back to the car (avoid attracting animals) & use the warm bathroom during a cold winter evening. It might be a Natl Park, but we are in the South so theres plenty of trash left in/around the fire pit Bring an extra trash bag to help clean up & keep our parks pristine!

The overall experience was pretty good and I only have a couple problems with the camp site. We stayed on site 2 and the grill was broken off the fire pit but we ended up not using it. Another thing was the posting listed on the website made the camp sites seem much further away from each other than they were. Also you couldnt really tell by the posting that you were in a big open clearing. This wasnt really a problem due to the fact that it was 17 degrees and there was not a soul in sight. The park is a very nice place to be and the nature is wonderful, we saw rabbits, deer, and where hogs had been. The trees are also amazing to see on the boardwalk. I would definitely go back.

Very easy to get to. Less than 1 mile from the visitor center parking lot. Tables and fire pits were very nice and convenient. Might want to bring firewood(see restrictions) or hatchet/axe to get your own.

I'm learning backpacking and I am still in the baby steps portion of this endeavor. So having a camping spot that's a mile in hike is perfect for me! I love the comfort of being close to people while yet still feeling out in the wilderness. I went during the non busy time of year (January and it was cold) so started out the evening all alone (just me and my dog) until around dinner time another group showed up. We were on opposite ends of the campground area. I love this park! There's plenty of hiking even when areas are flooded. Since I'm practicing for long distance backpacking trips, I don't mind conquering the cold and mud. When the park isn't flooded and we went the week before, we were able to enjoy the Oakridge Trail in the wilderness portion of the park. We loved it! Especially during the winter when it's not overgrown (made me feel safer). What I also love about this camping spot was that I still had access to restrooms at the visitor center where I had clean water and a heated restroom! (Although I'm looking to go backpacking,.... like I said, baby steps!) The rangers were all super friendly and informative. The people enjoying the trails were also lovely. I met nice people and had wonderful conversations. People who were there with their dogs were well behaved (leashed dogs). Thank goodness for that! But still be careful!
