This campground is so well maintained and has plenty of restrooms. It is located along the scenic Rim Rock drive inside of the Colorado National Monument. Its a desert landscape, not a forest camping environment. Great for families or solo travelers. Perfect for stopovers on your way to all the beautiful hikes in the area. $22 per night. During summer I would recommend reserving a spot ahead of time.

Wonderful campsite!! Very close to bathroom, which is heated and very clean, and water. We had good cell service and an amazing view, which was only a short walk away. We arrived at 6pm and wished we arrived early to enjoy the daytime view and trails a little longer. HIGHLY recommend this campsite.

As tent campers, we were lucky enough to find a nice site in Loop C, which is much prettier, more spacious and quieter than Loops A or B. As for exploring CO National Monument, while the top views along Rim Rock Drive are wonderful, we particularly enjoyed the hikes down into the canyons, especially Ute Canyon from the Rim Rock Drive trailhead, and Independence Monument from the lower trailhead off Hwy 340.

The camp host is amazing - he worked with us to swap sites so we would be more comfortable in our tent.

One of my all time favorite campgrounds in one of my absolute favorite places! I’ve stayed at Saddlehorn at Colorado National Monument multiple times and it’s always incredible! The bathrooms are clean with running water. The location of the sites are great. The only complaint I have is that other guests with sometimes will take up more space and spill into other campsites which can make things feel a bit cramped if you aren’t on a rim site. Other wise everything about staying here is wonderful!

Really neat area for a campsite! We were in loop B, definitely would not recommend for RVs or large trailers. The sitting/grill areas are all fairly private among trees/bushes which is nice. Nice flushing restrooms as well. Definitely recommend this camp area and park in general!

We had a great time at Saddlehorn. Admittedly, most of our days were spent hiking in the Monument or mountain biking in Fruita, but Saddlehorn is a great place to come back to in the evening. The campground is well maintained, bathrooms are spotless (and the toilets flush!), and all of our fellow campers were respectful and quiet at night. The views, of course, can't be beat and it's a nice little walk to the visitor center. Highly recommend!

As for things to do while staying at the Monument, we can recommend:
- Hiking Monument Valley Trail down/up. We went to to Independence Monument and back. There aren't many crowds, canyon country is beautiful, and the formations are great. Be aware, though, the trail down is steep and not necessarily for the faint of heart.
- Biking 18 Road in Fruita. Rip it up, people.
- Day trip to Dead Horse Point State Park in Moab. You can spend weeks in Moab, but if you want a glimpse of Canyonlands and fit in a nice 5-mile hike, try DHP.
