This is a beautiful campground in a gorgeous park. The sites are spaced well and feel secluded. The only complaint would be that we were on ground so hard we couldnt put stakes into the ground. However, they are rebuilding some (all?) of the sites to remedy this situation. If your tent doesnt need stakes its a non-issue.One of the things I loved about this place was how clean and nice the restrooms were. I hope other visitors will help keep them that way.

I love this campground. Ive stayed here several times and my favorite spots are the ones along the outside so I can walk down and look over the canyons. The sites arent super crammed together so everyone has a little bit of space to spread out.

The sites are not super fancy but the view was amazing, the stars are fabulous, & the bathroom was clean & warm. Loved staying there!

Our site in Saddlehorn campground (loop B, site 43), and it appeared most (if not all) sites in loops A and B, did not have a dedicated location for a tent (i.e. a "tent pad"). We had to find the best spot considering trees, slope of the ground and drainage of rainfall runoff, distance from the parking spot, location if the picnic table (which was too far from the parking spot making the site more of what normally is termed a walk-in site), ect., and make-do. The website for Saddlehorn campground should advise people that loops A and B do not have dedicated tent pads and that users will need to locate tents as best they can.

Great campground, we stayed in site 43. The outer loop sites 37, 39, 42, 43, 49, 51 are adjacent to the cliff. Very nice not have any neighbors behind you and be able to venture out and watch the sunset, city lights, and sunrise. Maybe not ideal if you have small kids who like to wander off. Site 43 is not visible from the camp road , I passed it the first time. There is a parking spot and the picnic table and grill are several yards down a path and very private. Site is better for a smaller tent. My 6-person tent was a little too big and we ended up sleeping at a slant. 2 or 4 person tent would be ideal. In my opinion, 42 and 43 are the best campsites in the campground. Close to the bathroom but not close enough to hear the flushing toilet all night or have people constantly walking past your tent.

Windy roads with steep cliffs to get to the campsite but beautiful once you’re there! Feels very private and the bathrooms were well maintained.

Our space was just big enough foe our 22’ van, women’s bathroom sinks were not working (but men’s were), overall it was adequate just not great.
The campsites are small, but arranged for maximum privacy. Sites on the outer sides of the loops all have excellent views. The restrooms were clean, well-lit at night, and easily accessible from all sites. I've stayed in Saddlehorn several times when driving through Colorado, and have yet to find anything to complain about.

Such a lovely campground! The grounds are so clean, the bathroom in great shape and a bonus- recycling bins for glass, plastic and paper! My only wish would be for a wash sink to wash dishes in, as I did not want to distribute food waste water onto the campsite (no feeding the wildlife!). I would wash my dishes using the water pump, then dump the dirty water in the toilet and flush.
We have been to Grand Junction several times in the past, but this was our first time at the National Monument. The sites are easy to access with pull through vs. backing in. We we just a short distance from the book cliffs and views were awesome. Definitely going back again.
Spectacular views and close ro Fruita. We'll definitely go back.

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
