Campground is great, but the site we slept at (33b) had a power pole next to the tent pad. We could hear and feel the electricity surging all night long. I would not recommend using this as an active site for users. First it seems very dangerous to sleep under the power pole, second the fact that we can feel the electricty is unerving.

The campground is terrific - clean, well organized and even has flush toilets! The Host was very helpful, friendly and on top of it, best I’ve met in a NP. Only downside is some of the sites are close but still pretty private. Oh, and the scenery is amazing and easily accessed. Highly recommend!

It’s hard to rate Saddlehorn fairly because the campground is in high desert. Very little shade, and very rocky soil. This campground is better suited to RVs than tents. Some beautiful views and sunsets, but expect hot, dry days even in spring. Bathroom facilities are well cared for and rangers very friendly.

This is a beautiful park. Lots of trails and lots of scenic views. My husband and I just took our bikes along the road and saw lots of spires and sites. In the evening we just sat on the edge and watched the sunset over Fruita.

Close to home for first time camping trip with grandson. Bathrooms were excellent. Clean, plenty of soap and water, air dryer, and automatic flush and lights. All so important during these COVID times. Reservation was easy to do online and spot was marked when we arrived.

We love Saddlehorn Campground! The sites are laid out well and the junipers provide some privacy from other campsites. The bathroom is clean and well stocked with soap, TP, and paper towels. The camp host was welcoming and enforced the noise rules so we didn't have to listen to the generators all night. My only complaint would be about the generators in general. They can be super loud and there is too much time allowed for their use. It detracts from other people's peaceful camping experience. But if you're willing to tolerate some generator noise, I highly recommend it!

We camped at site 33, which offers sweeping views from several sandstone ledges out over the valley as well as a fair bit of screening and privacy in what was otherwise a fairly crowded campground. Despite being on the edge of the mesa, the site has at least one sizable level sandy area for pitching a tent or sleeping under the stars as we did. But be aware that a fair bit of sand blows around near ground level during windy days and nights. The facilities were clean and functional, and even though outside hydrants had been turned off for the season, water was available at the heated restrooms. Several trails, vantage points, and the nature center are all within an easy, mostly level hike of the campground. If you have a little time after dinner, we recommend heading over to the nearby Window Rock and Book Cliffs trails for a fantastic panorama of the western slope at sunset/dusk. And, if you're interested in geology and plants, or just being alone among imposing canyon scenery, any of the longer canyon trails are great candidates for a day hike and are generally sparsely used because they are too strenuous for most visitors. The Devil's Kitchen and Serpents Trails are much shorter and easier, and put your nose and eyes on alot of cool rock formations, including the great unconformity between the ancient, billion-year-old basement gneisses and the colorful sandstones above. We also suggest paying a visit to the nature center, speaking to the knowledgeable rangers, and walking the short but informative nature trail at the outset of your visit in order to enhance your appreciation of this remarkable landscape. In short, the monument is well worth a visit and with a little creative planning it is not hard to spend multiple days hiking here and never see the same area twice.

Campground location was superb for sunrise and sunset over the valley. During our stay, there were not many campers - it was very peaceful. Colorado National Monument is amazing!
