The location was very good, high elevation to escape the heat, close to the trails that we wanted to hike and close proximity (site 28) to the water and restroom and relative to the most of the sites we had shade. The couple who were running the campground host were very friendly and helpful. It was very nice experience having conversation with them.We wanter to participate the sky night ranger program but after driving a long way, we missed it. Well maybe next time.

Interesting drive to the top of the hill to get to the campground but once there the view was amazing. Very clean facilities

Reserving was easy, the site was good, and the restrooms clean and operating well. Perfect experience for us.

I did not have nice view plus lot space were too close from another. I am glad that it did not rain because it will be a disaster. However, the bathroom were in my front, very convenient

The only problems we had were with the level of the site and the lack of electricity. It would take very little work with a small cat to level out some of the sites in the campground. Those of us with evaporative ammonia refrigerators need a pretty level site for them to work properly. Having to use blocks to level, and then get off of them, put them away, drive to a hiking spot, etc., is time consuming. With power lines arching over the campground, it seems to make sense to "electrify" some of the sites with 20 or 30 amp power. That would be very helpful for small units with refrigerators to run and people like me with a CPAP that needs power to operate. I have batteries available for mine, but some people don't have them available or don't have a CPAP that can run on batteries. John Daugherty, Lafayette, Colorado

Excellent night views of both the sky and the lights from nearby Fruita. Try to get the outer loop of the northern most ring and park so you can clearly see the town before the sun sets. After sunset, there is an incredible view of the sky and the city lights that will have you admiring how smart you were for reading this review and taking my advice.

For our first time camping in southern Colorado, this was an incredible experience. The drive through the park is windy but has incredible views. The campsites sit within pinyon and juniper trees which provides some privacy considering the sites are within close proximity of each other. The restrooms were close by and clean. There is a picnic table provided for each site, but no fire ring since woodfires are not allowed. There is an incredible hike from the Visitor's Center, which is just a 10 minute walk from the campsites.

Great campground! If it blows hard be aware you are at a high elevation. Our popup was almost blown over. Not the campgrounds fault
