Initially, we had reserved Site # 9 for our 3 night stay. It turned out to be right next to the highway, so our first night was not restful. The next day we asked the Camp Host if we could move to a site that had opened up, away from the road and next to the creek. She was able to make this happen, and the next 2 nights were much quieter! The campground was lovely. There is a short walk along the creek to a watering hole that was so peaceful, home to a beautiful Great Blue Heron that flew back and forth from the treetops to a rock in the creek! We look forward to coming back to the Manzanita Campground in the near future.

Camp grounds are way too close to the road and the campsite are very close to each other. Not sure why this site is so popular. Its clean though

Manzanita campground is a small, well-maintained campground. The surrounding area is absolutely stunning with many access points to Oak Creek, which is well stocked with fish. The primary negative is the small campsites and very limited parking space and the campsite borders on some sites were not obvious. Camp hosts were always available and resolved issues in a timely manner.

Nice campsite, table and fire pit are on even ground. The site is right next to the camp hosts. You might have difficulty parking a larger SUV or truck because of the tight parking shared with Site 10. I dont recommend this site if you have a trailer. The site is not on the river, but still close enough. The hosts were very nice and the vault toilets were clean.

Just a perfect stay. Sure, the road is noisy and the headlights are bright. And the parking space for No. 9 is tight (we had a standard suv and it was fine). But the location is wonderful, you hear the river all night long, it has all the basics you need at a campsite (bathrooms are clean, spicket works, and firewood is $8/pack), and you get to hike Sedona. Perfect campsite.

Great Location! Camp hosts are awesome! Can't wait to go again! The best way to spend some much needed restorative time in Oak Creek Canyon.

I loved the closeness of the creek. At the time I camped in Mid-April the creek was running high from the snow melt. It was very loud, but so soul comforting. I love the sound of creeks and rivers when I sleep. Number 9 was my camp and it was small. It was right next to the camp host on one side. Number 10 next door is almost on top of you. Gotta love the neighbors. The camp hosts dog came over for some ball playing and petting. I’m a dog person, so I loved the welcome distraction (and am missing a dogo of my own.) There is a little beach area I propped my chair up and listened and watched the creek for hours.
The 89-A traffic died down about 10 o’clock. It was also time for the noise curfew which made the woods silent! Pretty much everyone adhered to it, so it was nice.
The camp hosts are newbies. Wood bundles are small. Bathrooms were cleaned once a day. There are 4 pit toilets for the 19 sites in this campground, probably could’ve used 2 times. My fire pit wasn’t cleaned out and I asked a camp host for a shovel and he did it for me.
The swimming holes look great, but it was ferocious water and cold- so swimming’s not happening for a while. Fishing is kinda a bust as well. Maybe when the run off is done, it will be better.
Parking is an issue. Tiny spots. Only one car per site. No radios, which I actually liked….
If I get the chance to go here again, I would try for a different site further to the left when entering the campground. (No. 9 and 10 are a hard right when entering.) Overall it was enjoyable.

Our camp host was awesome! The Campground was easy enough to find and close to town. Given that the campsites are backed by the river, there are plenty of good fishing spots. All around awesome experience!

The only thing worth mentioning that wasn't fantastic: in the winter months, this campground gets pretty cold. This is particularly true of the 2 sites next to the campground host. The sites sit next to a ridgeline, so there is not a lot of sun coming down, and you are basically at the back of a wind tunnel. So pack warm!

Nice, small campground. Closest to Sedona and lowest elevation of all campgrounds in Oak Canyon, so warmest at night. I’m physically disabled (use a walker). If you’re mobility impaired, be careful about which site you choose. Several sites (10-??) require climbing stairs to get to the site. Site 9 was completely accessible (dirt only) for me, though bathroom seemed too far away and up a slight hill. Aside from accessibility considerations, sites are very close together and literally right off the road. Signage isn’t great so be careful to go slow when GPS says it’s coming up. No traffic noise at night and campers were mostly respectful of time. Verizon service was great, even did a FaceTime call just fine. If visiting Sedona again, I will 100% return.

LOVE this campground!!! We will definitely be returning. You’re right by the creek and it’s a picturesque little area in the oak creek canyon. It’s a bit snug (campsites are really close together) but nothing unbearable and usually people are considerate of others. You can purchase firewood from the camp host for $7 cash.
